The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .

Sex & Nudity

There's both male and female full frontal nudity as well as sex scenes.

A theme of the movie is Diane is underage (she is 17, Renton is 19) That may upset some people

Renton swaps the movie 100 Greatest Goals with a movie titled "Tommy and Lizz Vol 1." It ends up being a sex tape, and he watches the sex tape with SickBoy. The tape shows them graphically having sex on camera.

In one scene Renton and Diane have sex with Diane showing full frontal nudity and the Renton's penis is shown momentarily, but not close up.

There are several jokes and references comparing being high on heroin to sex.

Violence & Gore

Begbie throws a beer glass over a balcony and it lands on a woman bloodying her and starts a big bar fight thereafter.

Renton shoots a dog in the rear, causing it to attack it's owner.

Begbie beats a man very harshly on screen including cutting him up with a broken cup (off-screen).

A man is cut in the hand by a knife, we briefly see the wound.

Profanity

non-stop adult pervasive language including uses of the word "cunt"

Begbie literally uses the word "fuck" everytime he is on-screen, which is alot.

The movie is set around a group of friends who are all heroin addicts

several scenes involving people using heroin (on-screen) methodone, and other related drugs, and being high on these drugs

some of the characters have severe drug induced hallucinations

all characters talk about being on drugs, and how to score the perfect hit

all characters smoke and drink and several scenes take place in bars.

A dead baby is literally shown on-screen which probably would upset all viewers, even those who love horror movies.

Renton experiences bizarre disturbing hallucinations during heroin withdrawl, including the dead baby crawling across the ceiling and its head spinning.

The fact that this movie is based on heroin, heroin addicts, and their out-of-control lives may upset some people

Renton takes pills to get rid of the heroin and poison in his body. One is a laxative. We see him literally sit on a toilet and poop. he then proceeds to jump in the toilet and swim around. (the latter half is supposively a hallucination, but still weird.)

Spud is so high on heroin, he literally poops his pants in the middle of the night (off-screen) he wakes up in the fecal matter. .....he then takes his sheets to be washed and his girlfriends mother takes them flinging poop all over the room. (both on-screen) (which i guess is kinda funny, but may make some people sick)

Tommy dies from a stroke caused by heroin. We see the funeral and only the legs of the body. (may upset anybody who knows someone who died because of drugs)
