Too much romance
blumdeluxe28 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"Lady Killer" is a thriller, dealing with a married woman, that has a brief affair leading into kind of stalking and finally a rape. While she tries to cope with the events, her former affair seduces her daughter and she brings him along on a family vacation, leading to grave consequences.

Unfortunately, I'm not even sure if my declaration of this film as a thriller is quite correct. The first half of this movie almost exclusively deals with the love life of the main character and includes tons of cheesy dialogues, cheap seduction and soap opera. When the action starts later in the movie, the general impression also improves a bit. While I don't have anything against romances, in fact there are great love movies, here it bothered me for two reasons. Firstly because this is not a great love movie, the dialogues and optic are rather cheap and cliché. Secondly because this movie is supposed to be a thriller and honestly a love movie isn't what anyone came for. To be fair, this still isn't a bad movie in all aspects, I liked the general plot and when the tempo increases, a bit of tension also breaks through.

But all in all there would have been potential for a lot more in this title. If you like a mixture of romance and thriller, this might be your movie. If you want to be fully caught in a movie and its events, this is maybe not exactly what you're looking for.

Not one of the Best

What could have been a pretty good stalker movie wound up a cheesy chick-flick.

Judith Light, sporting some of the ugliest hair-dos (can't call them "styles") ever, plays a middle-aged woman with way too much money and just about zero sense.

Light's character, a married woman named Janice Mitchell, is almost impossible to sympathize with. Here's a woman whose husband makes megabucks, but spends a lot of time on the road. Janice whines to her shrink about how empty her life is. Boo Hoo.

She meets a Younger Man and has a brief affair. Turns out the guy is a nut job, and that's the plot. Hubby comes home, suddenly starts paying attention to her and she tells the youngster to take a hike. Of course, he won't and starts stalking her.

To further showcase her stupidity, she lies to the cops about knowing the guy after he tries to rape her.

All in all, a somewhat painful way to spend two hours.

Not Fantastic But Not Terrible Either
crjohnson121 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It was nice to see Tracey Gold and Judith Light working together in this movie. This movie is about a man who has an affair with an older married woman named Janice. He believes that he and Janice are a couple, but when she breaks it off, he gets mad and he gets revenge. He rapes Janice and starts having an affair with Janice's daughter. He also shoots Janice's husband. He chases her up to the top of a lighthouse. After attempting to rape her again, Janice pushes him off the lighthouse and kills him. It was made unclear whether or not Janice's husband survived after being shot. I found this movie to be entertaining and somewhat suspenseful. It's not a fantastic movie but it doesn't suck either.

Psycho thrills in a TV movie
Leofwine_draca8 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
LADY KILLER is a very lame TV movie addition to the psycho-thriller sub-genre of film-making. The story is about a middle-aged family woman (played by an actress who quietly overacts every expression and nuance) who embarks on an affair with the usual slick, creepy young dude, only to run afoul of him when he rapes her one night. After this lengthy set-up, the story switches to a family holiday in a snowbound cabin, where bad guy turns up as the daughter's date. You can guess the rest from there. As a TV movie this is lame stuff indeed with the merest hints at late night Shannon Tweed-style erotica and a general air of cheesiness throughout. The whole thing is tame and predictable, marred by the totally unlikeable characters throughout. The ending had me burst into laughter, it's so ineptly portrayed.

Excellent FATAL ATTRACTION-like thriller that'll have you on the edge of your seat

LADY KILLER, in my opinion, is an excellent FATAL ATTRACTION-like thriller that'll have you on the edge of your seat. When Janice (Judith Light) broke off her affair with her lover (Jack Wagner), if you ask me, that's when the film started to get really good. It's kind of hard to explain why. If you ask me, she should have been more careful about what she did with that other man. However, I did enjoy seeing her do her gymnastics routines as well as get lectured by her parents. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say, "If you ask me, LADY KILLER really shows you the effect having an affair can have on someone's marriage and family." Now, in conclusion, I recommend this movie to everyone who hasn't seen it. You're in for some thrills and a good time, so the next time it's on TV, kick back with a friend and watch it.

Insight from a teenager's mind

I loved this movie. Although it's very odd for me to watch Judith Light as Janice after watching her for so long as Angela from "Who's the Boss?", I got over that. I really admire Judith for the roles she takes because she is very serious about what she's doing and how audiences view her. She puts a lot of thought behind the situations her characters are in and she fights for a cause.

Anyway, the movie is fabulous! It's entertaining and VERY interesting to watch how things twist and turn around in this woman's life. I can't say I've been in a similar situation, but it was easy for me to relate to how Janice was feeling because of the emotional angle the movie took. Very nice!!
