Quotes

  • Trevor Goodchild : That which does not kill us, makes us stranger.

  • Trevor Goodchild : The dream to awaken our world...

Æon Flux : You're out of control.

Trevor Goodchild : I take control! Whose side are you on?

Æon Flux : I take no side...

Trevor Goodchild : You're skating the edge.

Æon Flux : I am the edge!

Trevor Goodchild : What you *truly* want, only I can give.

Æon Flux : You can't give it, can't even buy it, and you just don't *get* it.

  • Trevor : That's the funny thing about memories, we are only what we remember of ourselves.

  • Trevor Goodchild : [opening lines of original 'first' episode, "The Demiurge"]  Light, in the absence of eyes, illuminates nothing. Visible forms are not inherent in the world, but are granted by the act of seeing. Though the world and events do exist independent of mind, they obtain of no meaning in themselves: none that the mind is not guilty of imposing on them. I bid my people follow, and like all good equations, they follow; for full endowment of purpose, they do submit - in turn, they resign me to a role inhuman, impossible, and unaccountable. But I can no longer stand the sleepless nights... I think I am learning to love the Demiurge.

  • [first lines]

Trevor Goodchild : The unobserved state is a fog of probabilities, a window of and for error. The watcher observes, the fog collapses, an event resolves. A theory becomes a fact... What is the truth? Tell me, if you know. And I will not believe you. Things are never what they seem. Clean gloves hide dirty hands - and mine are dirtier than most... Without truth, there can be no justice. Justice will be done!

  • Trevor Goodchild : [on Bambara]  This is what happens when a good deal of intelligence is invested in ignorance, when the need for illusion is deep.

    Bambara : Piss off, ponce!

  • Trevor Goodchild : *You*! You drove it out! - All right, you got it, you got what you wanted. So you answer to no-one...

[Aeon points her gun at him]

Trevor Goodchild : Are you out of your mind?

Æon Flux : The only reason I don't shoot you has nothing to do with duty or principle. It's simply a matter of knowing who I am.

Trevor Goodchild : Is *that* why you won't look at It

    [the Demiurge]

Trevor Goodchild : , why you can't barely gaze? Because you've done terrible things. And then there are the transgressions you never even knew you'd committed. Those are the worst, because those you can never forget. All you can do is suspect...

Æon Flux : I'm not in the habit of arguing about the color of red herrings!

  • Trevor Goodchild : Don't be selfish, Aeon. Think about *me* for a change.

  • Bambara : Tell the little witches to piss off!

Trevor : Piss off, little witches.

  • Interviewer : Many people hate you and would like to see you dead. How does that make you feel?

Trevor Goodchild : [chuckles]  Those people should get to know me a little better. Then they'd know I don't indulge in feelings.

  • Trevor Goodchild : A dream can seem to last for hours, and yet I awaken to find I have been sleeping only for a few minutes. The Habitat was my dream, and soon it will be gone. Bargeld could save it, but he is dying. I could save Aeon, but she will not come. Who will save me?

  • [Trevor is waiting for Aeon as the building they're in literally melts around them]

Trevor Goodchild : If she isn't here by now... They say cats always land on their feet, but at this point there's really no floor.

  • Trevor Goodchild : Your mind has a gutter all its own.

  • Trevor Goodchild : Smells trigger memories, Emon. I can smell Aeon now - leather... hazelnuts... gunpowder... sex.

  • Trevor : Then leave, you are free to go. Your conscience will tell you what to do.

Aeon : I have no conscience - you know what I mean.

Trevor : That is not important, the important thing is that you know...

Aeon : Man alive, Goodchild, you give me the hinks!

  • Trevor : Ask yourself, can you give yourself your own evil and your own good?

Æon Flux : Don't make the mistake of fencing with me, I know who I am and what I am still capable of.

  • Æon Flux : Fine to play with my feelings, but you are involving innocent people, Trevor! What are you doing to that poor girl!

    Trevor : Jealous?

  • Trevor : One wish, and it's yours.

    Cybil : Anything?

Trevor : Just no heads on plates. I'm going to get a drink, would you like one?

Cybil : No, no thank you.

Trevor : Right, that would have been it you know.

  • Æon Flux : You're drooling on me!

Trevor Goodchild : I'm a genius; therefore I can afford to drool.

  • Trevor : But now that I have you in my custody, I may do with you what I please.

    Crowd : Boo!

Aeon : I thought you already had.

    Trevor : I have, I had, I will, I did - don't I? Isn't that right, hostess Judy?

  • Bambara : You made me cut off my left arm and give it to a little boy! She tried to kill me!... Piss off!

Trevor : Oh, the flesh will be tearing at the opera house tonight.

  • [Trevor has Aeon pinned to the ground]

Trevor Goodchild : You shot Rubio, and not me. Now, why is that?

Æon Flux : Trevor, don't trouble me with your thin smile.

[she flips them so that she is on top]

Trevor Goodchild : Stop! There's a pain... in my back!

Æon Flux : Can you describe it, in words?

    Trevor Goodchild : What?

Æon Flux : I want you to tell me about the pain.

Trevor Goodchild : Sharp... stabbing... piercing...

Æon Flux : You're telling me nothing.

Trevor Goodchild : It feels... ugh!... .like a nail, twisting into my spine.

Æon Flux : Yes. But there is no nail.

    Trevor Goodchild : No.

Æon Flux : So there is no pain.

    [they kiss]

  • Trevor Goodchild : Now key her up and throw away the lock.

  • Trevor : The will to evil is like an iron in a forge, there is only one way to shape it right - with a conscience which is the fire!

  • Trevor Goodchild : When will you give up, Aeon?

    [he hands her a gun]

Trevor Goodchild : Here. Go ahead. Kill me, if that's what you want. You can't do it.

Æon Flux : You think you know what I'm doing so obviously you don't. What I have in mind for you is much worse.

  • Trevor Goodchild : It's my fault. They came here to see me.

Æon Flux : Your ego is staggering. What's this got to do with you?

Trevor Goodchild : These creatures have died from exposure to Aldus-B. Somehow, it shot from the satellite to their planet.

Æon Flux : Nice going, Trevor. Making friends all over the universe.

  • Trevor Goodchild : We are not what we remember of ourselves. We can undo only what others have already forgotten. Learn from your mistakes, so that one day you can repeat them precisely.

  • Trevor Goodchild : Sybil, I already know about Aeon's C-Section.
