Post Halloween Special Part 3: Freddy Krueger vs Me

3 November 2009 12:29 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It’s a bit late but to finally end my Halloween champion Slasher report on who is the king out of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger,  I have watched the entire back catalogue of their films and given a run down on each characters franchise story and best kills.

Part 1 was on Jason, Part 2 was Michael Myers and finally Part 3 is on the killing Dream Demon Freddy Krueger.

Set on Elm Street, Freddy is the reason I struggled to sleep through the late 80’s due to being terrified of him visiting me in my dreams.

Beware pictures of blood, a lot of gushing blood and other violent deaths.

And so a little rhyme to begin this story:

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.

Three, Four, Better Lock your door.

Five, Six, grab your Crucifix.

Seven, Eight, Gonna stay up late.

Nine, Ten, Never sleep again.

50 Influential Scream Queens: Part 2

27 October 2009 10:57 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Before I launch into the conclusion of my 50 Influential Scream Queens (read part 1 here), please let me remind you that this list is based upon my personal taste, and my personal taste alone. I didn't poll 100 Fango readers, the Fango staff or any other form of 'industry professionals'. It's all opinion, so if you feel I've wronged a certain actress by excluding them from the list, don't leap to brand the entire Fango crew 'vile'.  I probably just don't personally find their work to be that influential. Either that or I'm just ignorant to their accomplishments!

25. Mia Farrow: Mia's genre work may be a bit limited, but that doesn't change the fact that Rosemary's Baby will forever be regarded as one of the creepiest films in history. Farrow's portrayal of Rosemary Woodhouse is harrowing to say the least, and will always remain (in my mind) one of the best performances the genre has seen. »

Wes Craven's "25/8" Gets a New Title

20 October 2009 3:57 PM, PDT | www.ohmygore.com/ | See recent OhMyGore news »

When Wes Craven's latest fright flick arrives in theaters in 2010, it won't be called "25/8", a moniker it has held since the director began production. Instead, it is now entitled "My Soul To Take". Craven broke the news via his Twitter account this morning. ShockTillYouDrop.com says that while the title was once apropos for the film, the term "25/8" is no longer used in the story so it wouldn't really make sense to call it that. Craven adds "25/8" has always been a working title. Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker and Shareeka Epps star in what is Craven's first film that he has written and directed since "New Nightmare" in the '90s. Thierot plays "Bug," a young man who is possibly being terrorized by his serial killer father sixteen years after his supposed death.... »

Wes Craven’s 25/8 Becomes My Soul To Take

19 October 2009 4:56 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It took a while, but Wes Craven eventually realized that an extra hour added to each day doesn’t mathematically warrant an eighth day of the week, and has therefore opted to change the title of his latest film from “25/8″ to “My Soul to Take.”  When you say the two together it sounds like a made-up verse for the Freddie Krueger song by a child who hasn’t learned to count yet.  In any case, click the jump to hear more about the first written by/directed by film from Craven since 1994’s “New Nightmare.”

As reported by Shock Till You Drop, Wes Craven broke the news of the title change on his Twitter page, where he mentions that “25/8″ was always just a working title for the film.  It stars Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker, and Shareeka Epps with Thierot as the lead character who is possibly being stalked by his »

Movies That Put the Owee in Halloween

7 October 2009 10:04 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It’s that time of year again.  The pumpkins are out, the leaves are turning colors, the air is brisk and chilly.  It’s time for the spooky stories, the frightening films, the maybe not so scary but at times certainly inventive costumes and that most important element…..candy corn.  Yes folks, Halloween season is upon us once again.

My yearly tradition on All Hallows Eve is to hole up in my house, turn off all the lights and settle in to a nice good ole fashioned Horror movie.  What other way to celebrate right?  I figured this would be the perfect time to run down a list movies that fit this time of year perfectly.  Let’s run them down by letter shall we?

Teaser Trailer: New Nightmare on Elm Street

28 September 2009 2:31 AM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

An all-new teaser for Samuel Bayer/Michael Bay's Nightmare On Elm Street rework has crept out onto the internet. A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality. The project has Freddy fans split leaving most concerned with the possibility of yet another bad remake. Once again a first time director who only has experience working on music videos is assigned the difficult task of rebooting a beloved franchise. Wearing the red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-gloves is Jackie Earle Haley [1] (Little Children, The Watchmen) while Rooney Mara [2] plays the lead Nancy Thompson. An all-new teaser for Samuel Bayer/Michael Bay's Nightmare On Elm Street rework has crept out onto the internet, wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (metaphorically). It features the same footage that left 'em whooping at July's Comic-Con, focusing on dream-dwelling child-killer Freddy Krueger's origin story and flashing plenty of delicious glimpses of Jackie Earle Haley wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (literally). We're normally pretty grumpy about horror...
