An innovative tale from the streets
011077985 June 2002
This movie has a grainy gritty quality but also shows sensitivity. The music helps the movie to just float along, alot like Ghostdog. Anyway it is a must see, a real innovative piece of filmmaking. It can be compared to Scorsese's early work

Interestingly Shot, Well Acted, Entertaining
dcsgirlie9 August 2001
The highlight of this movie was in the directing. Because it was shot in black and white, it brought a depth to a movie that had little to go on script-wise. What made this movie an 8 in my opinion was the use of music, the use of the black and white, and the girl in the movie, who I found more compelling than the main character. There isn't much to give away, as the story itself holds no baring to the beauty of the movie. Its the silence that tells the story in this flick :)

Sit down in a dark room, and enjoy.

Excellent low budget film
aratron-003915 September 2021
The film was made for only $11,000. Jason Andrews was amazing. Too bad we have not seen more from this talented actor. Kimberly Flynn as Cyd was very sexy and provides a strong performance as a tough woman who cares for a man that is hard to love. The film had a tense gritty feeling with a constant sense of dread. A must see for indie film fans. This film is currently available on the Criterion collection channel. I am surprised this film does not have a larger following on imdb.. but with its addition to the creterion collection I hope s following will emerge for this hidden gem.

Unexpectedly Touching
orangelifer4 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Yes,it is a visually beautiful film but it is also much more touching than I expected. The main character Simon (Jason Andrews) is seemingly rather unlikable but becomes very obviously human as it moves along. The end of the film is both very sweet and very tragic. Ultimately what seemed like a fairly detached depiction of alienation becomes unabashedly romantic in the finale. While the end is extremely sad it is presented as being some form of happiness.

The film is also quite funny at times. Kevin Corrigan gives a likable energetic performance as Fuller, the enthusiastic protégé wannabe to Simon. It's obvious from the start things probably won't end well for Fuller. I didn't feel much truthfully for either woman that Simon was with although Marty the hometown girl grew on me.

A dynamic film that is definitely worth watching and worth owning.
