  • This movie was inspired by an early 1990s McDonald's ad about Pee-Wee Football that ran during the Super Bowl. The day after it aired, Steven Spielberg liked it so much that he called up the ad's creator, James Ferguson, and hired him to write the script for what became "Little Giants."

  • Devon Sawa was 15 during filming and much taller than his 10 year old castmates so he can be seen wearing only socks in some scenes.

  • John Madden travels around to various football venues, as he does in the movie, on a bus because he dislikes flying.

  • Sam Horrigan (Spike) replaced Jon Paul Steuer (Johnny) in the role of Quentin on the sitcom "Grace Under Fire".

  • Duwayne Dunham was removed as director after shooting more than two thirds of the film. He fell behind during the football game sequences. Brian Levant was brought in for the last few weeks to finish the football sequences, using Rexford L. Metz as his cinematographer. Duwayne Dunham was retained to supervise the editing at the same time, however, which he saw through to completion.

  • The jersey numbers Becky (#56) and Junior (#11) wear are those of former Giants greats Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms respectively while Briggs (#8), Patterson (#22) and Murphy (#48) are those of former Cowboys greats Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Daryl "Moose" Johnston respectively.

  • Ten years after the film's release, the New York Giants introduced a red alternate jersey.
