Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Lestat seems to 'seduce' a young male servant. He gets close to him (it looks as if they might kiss, but they don't), but later on we see that the young servant was killed.

A woman is seen undressing from a side view with partially visible details.

A lady (Laure Marsac) is fully nude for several minutes while performing in a play. Everything is highly visible.

There is a confusing relationship between Louis and Claudia. We hear that their relationship is like that of a son and daughter, but Claudia continuously calls Louis 'My Love'. In a later seen, she nearly kisses him on the lips, but they are interrupted before they make contact. What makes this scene disturbing is that Claudia appears to be a young child, but she has a mature adult mind (because of being a vampire, she does not age).

Violence & Gore

* Many deaths (both humans and vampires) and often these deaths have bloody results

Louis appears frightening when we first see him.

When a man thinks that Louis has cheated him a card game he turns the table and points a pistol at Louis but doesn't shoot.

A burglar threatens Louis with a knife but Lestat yanks him away, kills the thief, and breaks the neck of a hooker.

Lestat bites Louis (with resulting blood) and throws him in a river.

Louis briefly holds a revolver on Lestat.

Lestat once again bites Louis and turns him into a vampire by letting Louis drink his blood (he cuts his own arm to get the blood).

Louis and Lestat kill a young waitress by biting her tongue and her arm (with bloody results).

Sometimes we only hear the screaming of people being killed and then we see Lestat wiping blood off of his mouth.

At Louis' estate we see a slave kneeling at her husbands somewhat rotting corpse.

Lestat bites a rat and empties it's entire blood supply in a wine glass, which he gives to Louis (see in the Alcohol section).

Louis kills two dogs. In the same scene, Lestat kills a young man (we see the young man's lifeless face, no blood) and breaks the neck of an older woman (taking her head off, barely visible). Louis then pushes Lestat hard against a tree.

The slaves are holding a voodoo doll of Lestat against a big bonfire.

Louis kills his maid by biting her (off-screen) and later he walks out of the house with her body in his arms.

Louis burns down his house and Lestat saves him from the flames.

In several scenes we see Louis killing and feeding on rats.

Lestat kills two hookers. One is swiftly killed while the other is bitten in the breast and mentally tortured by Lestat. He locks her into a coffin and sits on it. Later on he bites her wrist and lets some of her blood flow in a wine glass (see in the Alcohol section).

We see a woman who has died of the plague (she appears rotted) and Louis tries to comfort the daughter but he bites her by accident. He thinks she is dead, but later on Lestat turns her into a vampire, by doing what he did with Louis to turn him into a vampire in the beginning.

Lestat kills a woman from who Claudia feeds.

There's a montage of Claudia killing four victims (partly off-screen).

We see a lot of coffins being carried out (which presumably contains the victims of Lestat, Claudia and Louis).

We see a rotting corpse which Claudia has been hiding amongst her dolls.

Claudia scratches Lestat on each cheek.

Lestat suddenly grabs Claudia by the throat and pushes her away hard.

We see two dead young people.

Claudia cuts Lestats throat (with extreme flow of blood onto the carpet) and finally he dies, turning pale and lifeless. Louis and Claudia throw him in the swamps, and we see an alligator going into the water (Lestats' face is seen briefly, with a disturbing appearance). Blood is seen coming up from the water (presumably Lestats' blood as the alligator eats him).

Lestat throws Louis around in a room and threatens Claudia, but Louis sets him on fire. Louis and Claudia escape.

Louis violently grabs Santiago.

In a play a fully naked woman is (assumed to have been) killed by the vampires of the theater. The people in the audience are not aware that she (possibly) had been killed.

Louis bites the hand of Armands' servant.

Louis bites a woman and turns her into a vampire.

Louis, Claudia and a woman are ambushed by several vampires. Louis is placed into a coffin where others build a brick wall to block it. Claudia and the woman are placed in a prison chamber.

When the sun rises two vampires are burned to death (we see their ashy bodies later).

Louis kills many vampires by various means (burning, decapitating etc.) all this has very bloody results and finally a lead vampire is cut in half (brief, but graphic). No blood splatters, however.

Louis grabs Malloy by the throat and throws him to the floor.

Malloy is bit by a vampire, but given the choice to live (as a vampire), or die.

Profanity

Mild language. Nothing worse than what would be heard in a PG movie.

A rat's head is bit off, and then the body is turned over to pour the blood into a wine glass.

In one disturbing scene, blood is poured into a wine glass as it is dripping from a woman's wrist.

Many characters drink alcohol at parties. There is some smoking.

Many people are killed by vampires, including a family. We do not see all of the deaths, but it is assumed as we see coffins being dragged out of the vampire's home.

Two vampires are killed by the sunlight. This scene is very depressing.
