Since portraying Michelle Tanner on Full House for eight seasons, the Olsen twins have been American sweethearts. When the ABC sitcom ended in 1995, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen took their talents to the big screen in It Takes Two. However, fans might be shocked to learn that the mansion where the movie was filmed sat vacant for years and was recently destroyed.

Though many fans consider It Takes Two Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s best film, the sisters appeared in several TV movies while on Full House. They include To Grandmother’s House We Go (1992), Double, Double, Toil and Trouble (1993), and How the West Was Fun (1994). But the siblings’ first full-length feature film was 1995’s It Takes Two.

Bill Maher has Oscar fever, as he admitted at the top of his HBO Real Time on Friday. The malady always makes him think of his mortgage. That’s because “it seems to last 30 years and I have a very low interest rate.”
There are a lot of remakes in this year’s field for Best Picture, Maher noted. That includes Nightmare Alley, which is also the Republican plan for abortion, he claimed.
Maher also touched on what may be the biggest surprise of the Oscars – that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky might appear. “He thinks Putin is a bloodthirsty maniac,” Maher observed. “Wait til he sees Twitter on Oscar night..” If Zelensky doesn’t make it, the Academy Awards has a backup plan in a similar vein: Nic Cage, “Who has survived a lot of bombs.”
There’s also a rumor going around that the Q-Anon audience is suspicious that...

Movie titles don’t necessarily make or break a movie on their own, but this is a look at ten movies where their titles didn’t do them any favors.
In the realm of zaney movie titles, I can appreciate those that are trying to be fun or silly, like 1964’s The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies or even Dude, Where’s My Car? Those are passable because they actually give you an idea of what to expect while perhaps generating a chuckle or a shake of the head. I can even deal with lame puns and wordplay in titles, as long as they make sense for the material at hand. Examples include Blacula! or Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. Even titles that are so straightforward they end up being dumb aren’t lying or misleading to us, and so they shouldn’t...

This Thursday on the Grey’s Anatomy fall finale (ABC, 8/7c), the leader of the free world summons Dr. Derek Shepherd, again. And stat!
Of course, Derek is a very, very busy super-surgeon and has little time for interruptions, as he makes clear in the above sneak peek. But the thing is, the President of the United States wasn’t too keen about being told “No” in response to his previous overture, to have Dr. Shepherd lead the brain-mapping initiative.
In light of all the drama that has unfolded since, might Derek reconsider his stance? Press play above and predict his eventual decision.

What’s in a name? I know, a pop culture piece starting with a Shakespeare quote. Get used to it pal. We’re getting highbrow round these parts! But seriously, what is in a name? Specifically the name of a movie?
A good movie title should be your first way in to the film. It should tell you everything you need to know about the film and why you should see it. There are the titular film names like Forrest Gump, Erin Brockovich and Wall-e (God I love that little guy). There are bold broad brushstrokes of titles evoking clear images like Star Wars, Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey. And there are the ridiculous like Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, or How The West Was Fun.
But you’ll be surprised at how some of the most famous movies of all time were meant to be known by the public as something else entirely…...

No longer 'the third twin' to child fashion moguls Ashley and Mary-Kate, Elizabeth Olsen is making a name for herself as a rising star in Hollywood. And nepotism has nothing to do with it, she says
It's day seven of a debilitating August heatwave in Los Angeles, but Elizabeth Olsen – deftly put together in an Annie Hall outfit of white shirt, light, puffy skirt and secondhand sleeveless vest ("I don't know what this thing is... but it cost three dollars!") – looks freezer-fresh. Blond-brown hair that should be stringy, damp and shapeless instead bounces against her round cheeks. Her face – like her physique – is marginally fuller than the rail-thin look favoured by her famous older twin sisters, the tween-moguls Ashley and Mary-Kate.
No one had heard of Elizabeth Olsen before Sundance 2011, when she took the festival by storm playing an escaped cult member in Sean Durkin's unsettling indie drama Martha Marcy May Marlene.

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
Overall, I’d give the movies of 2011 an “8/10.” The “Year of Remembering,” as Jeff Bayer hinted in his own Top Movies list, has seen some gems that we aren’t soon going to forget. This isn’t going to be a year like 2010, in which we will ask ourselves, “Wait, what won ‘Best Picture’ last year?”
Yet, this isn’t 2007, a year that saw decade-topping movies like There Will Be Blood and even Superbad. I agree with Jeff that “while there were many good films, I don’t think ‘greatness’ was achieved all that often.” While both of us probably gave out more “8/10′s” and “9/10′s” in one year than we ever have before, we were still looking for more. To put it simply, and in the terms of a perfectly “8/10″ movie, 2011 couldn’t quite “win the last game of the series,...

[1] I suppose it's not really correct to call Anton Yelchin and Dakota Fanning up-and-comers, seeing as each of them has been in the industry for over a decade. But as they transition into increasingly grown-up roles, it still feels like we're seeing the emergence of pair of promising young actors. Elizabeth Olsen, on the other hand, is about as fresh-faced as they come. Last year's Sundance hits Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene were her first real roles, aside from a tiny part in her sisters' How the West Was Fun way back in 1994. The three are now in final talks to star in Very Good Girls, from another not-quite newcomer, Naomi Foner. Though Foner's been working as a writer and producer since the '70s, the upcoming project will mark her directorial debut. More details after the jump. Fanning and Olsen will play a pair of newly minted...

Martha Marcy May Marlene
Directed by: Sean Durkin
Cast: Elizabeth Olsen, John Hawkes, Sarah Paulson
Running Time: 2 hrs
Rating: R
Release Date: October 28, 2011 (Chicago)
Plot: A young woman (Olsen) has difficulty determining what is real or imaginary after she escapes from a cult.
Who’S It For?: This movie might move a little slower than your typical American horror movie, but it’s even more terrifying. If Inception can hook in any audience with its gray areas of dream/reality, so should Martha Marcy May Marlene. If you just let this quiet movie play out, it will grab hold of you, and intimidate you. Prepare to join the Martha Marcy May Marlene cult.
Expectations: A wordy title and some festival buzz, that’s all I had to go on before sitting down for this one. Oh, and the debut of a third Olsen.

Go back to your solid gold penthouse in your skyscraper made of diamonds, Mary-Kate and Ashley, because there’s a new Olsen sister in town! Although not as renowned as her billionaire twin sisters, Elizabeth Olsen has also been acting since she was a tot. She had bit parts in The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley VHS series, as well as a small role in the instant classic, How The West Was Fun. But while the twins developed their skills in the public eye, Elizabeth has been quietly honing her acting craft with years of study. And now it’s about to pay off, as the 22-year-old makes her starring debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene, which opens wide today! The film follows the adventure of a young girl who flees into the mountains to escape an abusive cult, and we hear it’s a tour de force. File this...

You've never seen an Olsen twins movie, have you? Have you? You've never twisted your hair into braids like Hailee Steinfeld and discovered How the West was Fun or booked a trip to the UK for Winning London. You've never personally discovered that, indeed, It Takes Two. God. Now that you've admitted you have nothing in common with true cinéastes, allow me to educate you: Today we're visiting the quaint Manhattan of New York Minute, the Olsens' 2004 big-screen bomb costarring more than a few people you respect. Since their sister Elizabeth is defying cult order in Martha Marcy May Marlene this week, the least we can do is honor the original Olsens for their enslaved followers. These zealots prefer their Kool-Aid straight-up.

If you suffer from an aversion to Twilight, look away now: someone is about to diss one of the Olsen twins. It will get ugly
Honestly, Twilight has ruined everything. Once upon a time, fairytales were quite content to simply be fairytales. Not now, though – thanks to Twilight, they've all got to be turned into dimwitted allegories for sexual awakening full of mumbling, silly-haired teenage boys and distant-looking girls who can only communicate by sighing through their nose as loudly as they can.
The first warning came with the announcement of a Twilight-informed Little Red Riding Hood remake, but now there's also Beastly to deal with. It's based on Beauty and the Beast except, because Twilight exists now, it probably won't be very good. Let's comb through the latest Beastly trailer to see just how much we should brace ourselves for its arrival ...

Looking to make a name for herself, Elizabeth Olsen has landed not one, but two major movie roles.
The younger sister to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen is set to star in the upcoming “Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding” alongside "Gossip Girl" hunk Chace Crawford.
She is also working on an indie drama movie called “Martha Mercy May Marlene” which follows a young woman, who - after escaping a cult - moves in with her older sister.
You may have seen Ms Olsen alongside her famous twin siblings in their straight-to-video flicks like “The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley” and “How the West Was Fun.”...
