Son of Ace Ventura is now into production, with a full cast and director. The star is License to Wed's 13 year old Josh Flitter and the man behind the camera will be David M. Evans. None of the original directors or writers are onboard and it looks highly unlikely that Carrey will even appear in a cameo. The film is due to be released during the fall of 2008. There is a 1995 sequel to this film called Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, also starring Carrey.

They got the idea from Super Bowl XXV. In the game, the Buffalo Bills were losing against the New York Giants, 19-20. With 8 seconds left in the game, Bills' kicker Scott Norwood came on the field to attempt a 47-yard field goal. The kick had enough distance but sailed wide right, sealing the victory for the Giants.
