Delightful Vampire Romantic Comedy
claudio_carvalho19 July 2022
In the present days (1992), the divorced marketing executive Kendall Gordon (Kimberly Foster) dreams on finding her prince charming, but her boyfriend Dwight Putnam (Roger Rose) unsuccessfully presses her to marry him. In a stormy night, the vampire Zachary Simms (Adam Ant) wakes up in his crypt, which the entrance is through the fireplace of Kendall's house and stumbles upon Kendall. Soon he tells his life to Kendall and his love for the woman who turned him into a vampire, Nerissa (Michelle Forbes), and how she left him. As immediate consequence, he has overslept in his coffin for more than a century. Kendall finds Zachary a sweet "man" and shows him the night life in the present century and soon he falls in love with her and decides to re-humanize. Meanwhile, Dwight hires a private eyes to investigate his rival. But when Nerissa returns to look for Zachary, complicating his new human life.

"Love Bites" is a delightful vampire romantic comedy that has not aged. The plot is funny and based on a play by Malcolm Marmorstein. Both female lead actresses, Kimberly Foster and Michelle Forbes, are very beautiful and sexy, and Kimberly Foster shows a perfect chemistry with Adam Ant that is perfect for the role of a sweet vampire. My vote is six.

Absolute bomb!!! Practically unwatchable, WOW!
meow_mix3 May 2020
I have absolutely no idea what's up with the other reviews that are 8 to 10 stars-but I almost feel like they have to be from people in the cast of the movie or trolls.

To qualify what I'm saying, I will add that I **love** schlocky terrible sci-fi and fantasy movies-the worse the better, believe it or not-and even I found this movie to be so painfully bad I could hardly watch it without peeking through my fingers and laughing nervously because this movie is so extremely rotten it made me physically uncomfortable!!! lol

Adam Ant isn't even as bad as the female lead played by Kimberly Foster whose acting and physical movements on screen are so awkward and clunky it almost gives one the suspicion that she was trying to ruin the movie on purpose! I don't even think I can say I have ever seen another human being be that bad at acting in my entire life, and I've seen Eegah for Pete's sake!! The writing is abysmal-the "plot" if you can even call it that is not that bad in theory but the scenes and dialogue are so poorly acted as to render the entire thing a complete disaster.

It's almost offensive how bad this is, and not in a way where you get the impression they're in on the joke like with Airplane or the Scary Movie franchise. It's just embarrassing how truly awful this "film" is. I think I can see why it wasn't even released on video in the US. How it doesn't have an Allan Smithee credit for not only the director but the entire cast is baffling.

That being said if you can stand the cringe you might be able to laugh at this enough to make your sides split wide open. I've run out of words to say how horrible this movie is so I guess this review ends here.

Poor Ole Zachary

I must say, as vampire movies go, this one is just adorable. I have seen some comedy vampire movies, but this one just grabs you. It took me years to find this movie on video for US video, the only ones I could find were for British video and every time it would come on TV would be about 2 in the morning. Adam Ant was great as well as everyone in the cast. It put a different take on the whole vampire legend thing and the dialog between Zachary and Kendall was just terrific, especially their first meeting.

It really was a feel good movie from start to finish and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a light hearted comedy with a hint of the supernatural.

Yeah, it's kinda cheesey... but Adam Ant is in it!

If you are in the mood for a farce of all things Vampire, then this is the movie to watch tonight. It is a little cheesey, but it's a hyperbolic satire on the whole Vampire mythos so it's just doing it's job. Besides that Adam Ant plays a great Romantic lead and just as good of a Vampire as Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt could ever hope to pull off... at least he has a convincing accent... Bottom line: Don't take it seriously, don't over analyze it, Don't turn it on expecting Bellalugosi.... and you may just enjoy it!

Maybe It's Not the Best Movie, but I took a liking to it....

Sorry, the way I see it there are maybe two types of good movies, one that is just brilliance, a 5 star all the way, and a movie that you just plain like for some reason. And I just liked this movie...why I can not say. It just grows on you?

I loved it!
huffpuff12288 October 2000
Okay, so it's not your regular vampire fare. But this movie is so cute, with such sweet chemistry and oddly working storyline, that it works. Sure, it's rather silly. But this movie has a quality I can't describe which just makes you love it. The actors aren't particularly talented (except for maybe Adam Ant and Michelle Forbes who were just great) but they made it work. IT was cheesy, but in that "gotta love it" way that actually worked.

Adam Ant was just great. He turned in a great performance, and he just had a way with the part that was wonderful. I couldn't help but laugh out loud as he "turned into" a bat, or when he discovered about alarms ("You are too close to the dishwasher...step away from the dishwasher...").

All in all, I loved this movie, and I have to say that "Love Bites" is probably the sweetest, cutest, most feel-good vampire movie I've even had the joy of seeing. And Zachary Simms has to be the most perky, nice vampire in the world...

light hearted approach to the vampire film
imdb-1132325 October 2006
Has to be a maximum score from me. Always been a huge fan of Adam Ant and I think he is absolutely perfect in this role. I genuinely liked the film aside from A.Ant being in it. Its been a while since I've seen it and gave up looking for it a while ago on video/DVD. I love anything to do with vampires and I really enjoyed the more light hearted approach of this film. I would recommend this film to anyone who wants an easy going amusing romantic film with a touch of the English eccentricity found in Adam Ants vampire character. I'm sure the critics would have panned this film when it was released but I don't care I'll always love this film!

Actually decently interesting vampire
maryiakae3 December 2020
From the start I was hooked, which I dont usually get into movies very easily. Also Zachary is not a bad looking character. I definently plan on purchasing this movie or at least renting it from the video store since I seen it on TV for the first time.
