Jennifer Aniston wins 'Scream Queen' for 'Leprechaun' role (IrishCentral)

28 November 2009 6:57 AM, PST | IrishCentral | See recent IrishCentral news »

Jennifer Aniston has been named Hollywood's hottest Scream Queen after her performance in the 1993 movie Leprechaun when she is chased by an evil little green man from Ireland who has somehow ended up locked in a basement in L.A. After he is unwittingly released by Aniston's family he goes on to wreak carnage all over. He bites off a policeman's head among other things and breaks legs with hammers. He tests Aniston's lung capacity to its fullest. It was one of Aniston's first roles and before she was made famous in “Friends.” Her screaming fit reaches its height when she goes to a local hospital and finds herself pursued by the leprechaun who strangely enough is in a wheelchair. Luckily she discovers that a four leaf clover acts like a cross for Dracula and she is able to fight off the evil little man – thank goodness! Aniston has rarely »

Stars in Rewind: Alexander Skarsgard on a Frappuccino Joyride

One of the silliest pleasures of revisiting older films is seeing actors in small roles, back before you had any idea who they were. Sometimes it's the only reason to watch something over again -- after all, why else would you rent 1990's Tales From the Darkside: The Movie if not to giggle at Julianne Moore being terrorized by a mummy controlled by Steve Buscemi, or pick up Leprechaun other than to mock the performance of the young Jennifer Aniston?

Sometimes the now-familiar faces pop up in stuff that's still worth watching, as with Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis on TV's Pee-Wee's Playhouse, or Johnny Depp in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. That's a bonanza. And when the earlier role is vastly different from the sort of thing they've settled in to playing now, it's all the more delightful.

Take, for example, Alexander Skarsgard, who sets hearts a-flutter »

Profiling Hogwarts' Teaching Staff In 'Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince'

16 July 2009 10:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Before Bill Nighy confirmed he was going to be joining the cast of “Harry Potter,” he wasn’t being facetious when he complained that he was the last big British actor to not be involved in the series. With heavy hitters like the late Richard Harris, Kenneth Branagh and Ralph Fiennes weaving in and out of the series, who can blame him for feeling left out?

The professors at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in particular possess acting talent which comes from the upper echelons of British celeb royalty. Young Americans might not recognize all of their faces outside of "Potter," especially those who are masked behind beards and more extensive makeup. So we've decided to profile the top Hogwarts talents for you here; not their fictional professorships, but rather the reasons you should look for them in roles outside the "Harry Potter" universe.

Preview: Issue #2 Of Bluewater’s ‘Leprechaun’ Comic Is, Well… Just As Crazy As Issue #1

3 June 2009 12:01 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Say what you want about the 1993 horror film “Leprechaun” — but for many low-budget horror fans like myself, it holds a special place in our hearts.

Not only did it give us the greatest (and only) death-by-pogo-stick scene in movie history, but it also gave Jennifer Aniston her first feature film role and, of course, paved the way for such cinematic classics as “Leprechaun in Space” and “Leprechaun in the Hood.” So, with all of that evidence presented, I rest my case for the importance of “Leprechaun.”

Now that we have that settled, it should be no surprise that the ongoing adventures of Warwick Davis’ evil Irish alter ego are continuing in comic book form. Earlier this week, I recommended the first issue of Bluewater Productions’ “Leprechaun” comic book series (which I believe hits shelves today), and now I have an exclusive sneak peek at the second issue in the series. »

Remember When: Jennifer Aniston Was In 'Leprechaun?'

16 March 2009 11:30 PM, PDT | Celebuzz.com | See recent Celebuzz news »

In celebration of Saint Patrick's Day here at Celebuzz, we'd like to reminisce about a wonderful little horror movie starring Jennifer Aniston—before her years on Friends, and before her personal life came to resemble a three-ring circus. In the 1993 horror flick Leprechaun, a young Aniston plays teenager Tory Redding, who moves into a house with her father, only to discover that a not-so-friendly leprechaun is caged up in their dark and scary basement. The nasty little Irish creature manages to get out, and all hell—and hilarity—breaks loose. Aniston even carries a weapon! Looks like Brad Pitt has always liked his women gorgeous, talented, and. »

Stacie Ponder - I Love Actors Who Love Making Horror Movies

24 February 2009 9:00 PM, PST | amctv.com - Horror Hacker: Stacie Ponder | See recent amctv.com - Horror Hacker: Stacie Ponder news »

Not long ago, I compiled a wee list of actors who started in horror before moving out of the genre to become household names. Sure, it's all well and good when Jennifer Aniston wants to expand her resume beyond Leprechaun, but the actors who have my heart are the ones who have their feet more or less planted in the world of the fright flick. Though these folks have »
