cherylconway18 August 2003
Deadly Advice is a brilliant flim from start to finish. I love the way Iris treats her two daughters as kids and jodie and her sister are really funny and good actresses. And Bunny....! don't even get me started! He is so fu**ing GORGEOUS! His face his body i could go on and on! The idea of the film is brill and the actors are very good which makes the film as good as it is. I give it 10/10 and i recommend it to anyone who wants a good comedy!!

Unpleasant, unfunny and no plot.

Warning: Spoilers
This film, in which a girl imagines she can see the murderers in books coming to life and encouraging her to kill, attempts to be a whimsical black comedy. However, there is no plot worthy of the name and so the film just flounders soon after the start. It is as if the writer only had the idea for the basis of a plot, but could not think how to develop it. Furthermore, the film simply does not have any proper ending. Indeed the end might as well have come at any point earlier on for all the difference it would make to the story. The central character is a killer whose victims are wholly innocent of anything, so the audience is in no way routing for her. And is this 'comedy' funny at all? There is nothing in it that would cause the average person the slightest amusement. It is the sort of film that is aimed at those who fall for the 'emperor's clothes' trick of thinking anything with British accent must be clever: but this emperor really is stark naked.

Dark humor with fine performances.

This is a funny and original story that gets a bit bogged down towards the end but finishes well. Jane Horrocks is superb, as always. Imelda Staunton, Brenda Frickers, and Jonathan Pryce do fine by their characters as well. It's the story, not the performances that get a bit stuck about 3/4 through.

Bunny nearly steals the limelight!

This film was so way ahead of its time. If you liked Knives Out etc then this has a similar vibe and introduces the undertones with the overtones in just the right measure. Featuring an ensemble cast of all the great period actors that do their usual thing, alongside the hilarious. Advised by the ghosts of five notable British killers, small town librarian Jodie (Jane Horrocks) sets out to murder her domineering mother, Iris (Brenda Fricker) and anyone else who stands in her way to happiness. This includes the character Bunny who almost manages to steal the show with a character portrayal that is now an absolute must in all modern films of this genre.

Deadly Advice is A briliant flim. Jodie and her sister Beth is treated like their still kids (and there in their late twenties) by their mother Iris. Then Jodie remembers she saw dead people when she was a child and starts seeing them again and they start giving her advice DEADLY advice soon Jodie finds herself in a mess. Very funny 10/10 and i would recomend it to everyone!!
