Movies Forgotten In Time: I Come In Peace

25 December 2009 2:36 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Five years after his now legendary performance as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, Dolph Lundgren was enjoying considerable success having starred in a trio of films that include Red Scorpion, (the original) The Punisher and as popular toy figure He-Man in Masters of the Universe. The films ranged from okay to just plain awful, but Lundgren had an onscreen presence that was more than just his six foot five frame. The guy had personality and for a native of Stockholm, Sweden, he could easily adopt an American accent. The nineties saw Lundgren in a string of action films that included Showdown in Little Tokyo with the late Brandon Lee, Universal Soldier with Jean-Claude Van Damme and the Keanu Reeves vehicle Johnny Mnemonic which to this day remains Ludgren's last film that had an American theatrical release. By the close of the decade Lundgren's films were only released straight to video sin the U. »

This Week in Trailers: 'Toy Story 3,' 'Greenberg,' 'Universal Soldier: Regeneration'

29 November 2009 3:58 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

I'm one of those people who would be fine with a new Toy Story trailer every week. It doesn't work like that, of course, but I have such great memories of the first two movies and such high hopes for the third, that the more stuff I see, the better. We did get a new international trailer over the past few days, so that helps soften the blow that we have to wait until June to see the threequel.

There was also our first look at the latest Noah Baumbach film, Greenberg with Ben Stiller, which should in no uncertain terms not be confused with our first look at Universal Soldier: Regeneration with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. It's a simple mistake to make, I realize, but Greenberg is the one without the supersoldiers.

On with the trailers:

Jean-Claude Van Damme Video Extravaganza! New Trailers for "Universal Soldier Regeneration" and "The Eagle Path"

28 November 2009 7:45 AM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Last year, Jean-Claude Van Damme surprised everyone with the film "Jcvd." It was a great movie and the action star served as the heart of the flick.

Now, Van Damme returns with not one but two new action films. One, has the actor embracing his Luc Deveraux character again in the "Universal Soldier" franchise, and the other, Van Damme returns to the director's chair in "The Eagle Path."

First, let's take a look at the fifth installment of the "Universal Soldier" franchise called "Universal Soldier Regeneration." This one's directed by John Hyams and stars Van Damme and Dolpg Lungren (!) yeah!

"Universal Soldier Regeneration" is a direct-to-video release (tsk, tsk) and will arrive February 2nd of 2010.

Now here's "The Eagle Path." The last time Van Damme directed a film was 1996's "The Quest." This time, not only did the actor helm the project, he also wrote it! Interesting trivia y'all, did »

Van Damme's Universal role

25 November 2009 12:00 AM, PST | Virgin Media - Movies | See recent Virgin Media - Movies news »

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren will star in a new 'Universal Soldier' film. The two actors will reprise their roles and return to the big screen as the muscular anti-heroes they previously portrayed in 1992, for a new installation of the franchise 'Universal Soldier: Regeneration'. Van Damme is regenerated soldier Luc Deveraux, whereas Lundgren stars as his evil Sergeant, Andrew Scott in the storyline which revolves around a group of Us soldiers who died in Vietnam, but are brought back to life as super soldiers for a secret Us government project. The new plotline will follow the characters as they battle to stop .. »

Trailer for ‘Universal Soldier: Regeneration’ Hits the Web

24 November 2009 7:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

In the milieu of “better-than-they-have-a-right-to-be” action movies, I need to add 1992’s Universal Soldier. From the team that later brought us Stargate and Independence Day, Universal Soldier starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolpf Lundgren back when those names actually meant something at the box office.

Still, even with a mediocre script and some stilted acting, the movie actually managed to be pretty good and even more importantly, fun. Now, many years later and after at least one sequel already down, the very forgettable Universal Soldier: The Return, we now are going to get a third installment of the franchise, cleverly entitled Universal Soldier: Regeneration. And yes, we’ve got a trailer for you, so don’t worry.

This one goes direct to video this time but does feature returning stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. It also brings Ufc heavyweight champion Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski into the mix, which could prove interesting. »

Universal Soldier: Regeneration

24 November 2009 2:36 AM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Jean-Claude van Damme flirted with the mainstream before disappearing into a world of low budget chop-socky nonsense found in many bargain bins across the globe. Perhaps his biggest shot at the big time was starring alongside Dolph Lundgren in Roland Emmerich’s high concept actioner – Universal Soldier.

Well guess what? They’re back! Whilst hardly an anticipated release, in the spirit of boyhood adoration of really stupid and comically violent action films – here’s the brand new trailer for Universal Soldier: Regeneration.

It’s been a good 17 years since the original blasted onto our cinema screens. And for old times’ sake, Lundgren versus the Muscles from Brussels is back on the menu. Rumour has it, Lundgren shot all his scenes in five days before running away with his pay cheque. The plot revolves around some bad-ass trying to blow up Chenobyl (didn’t this happen already? »

F*** Yes. Van Damme And Dolph - Round 2!

23 November 2009 8:46 PM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

I Love Van Damme. You can crap on this dude all you want, but think he's been a great on screen action hero and his last movie Jcvd was pretty solid. So anything that brings Van Damme back into what made hi famous in the first place is alright with me.I also Love Dolph Lundgren. Everytime he Dolph's some bad guy through a door it's just one of those cool action moments. And he's been in some great action movies. When the two went against each other in Universal Soldier, it was a lot of fun to watch. So I was pretty fucking stoked when I saw this trailer for Universal Soldier: Regeneration. In this new sequel, they have to reactivate Van Damme in order to stop a new Universal Soldier played by mixed martial artist Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski (who probably can't act for shit, which is saying »

Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer With Jcvd

23 November 2009 4:22 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

If Sylvester Stallone’s tribute to ’80s action movies with his movie The Expendables wasn’t enough for you, then you absolutely must watch this trailer for Universal Soldier: Regeneration.

Yes, you read that right.  Jean-Claude Van Damme may have turned down a role to play along with Stallone and friends and his star-studded action fest, but he and Dolph Lundgren still get to party in this third installment to their Universal Soldier franchise. I say “their” because there were two made-for-tv sequels to the first Universal Soldier that starred Matt Battaglia as the title character (making this the fifth Universal Soldier film).

Check out the trailer after the jump.

The last time we got treated to Jcvd suiting up as Luc Deveraux was a decade ago in 1999’s Universal Soldier: The Return and although this movie is ridiculous -- they’re threatening to blow up Chernobyl -- I was smiling while watching the trailer. »

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released a trailer for the upcoming Jean-Claude Van Damme / Dolph Lundgren movie Universal Soldier: Regeneration. With stolen top-secret technology, terrorists have created a next-generation Universal Soldier - an elite fighter genetically altered into a programmable killing machine. With this "UniSol" (Former Ufc Heavyweight Champion Andrei "The Pit Bull" Arlovski) leading the way, they seize the crippled Chernobyl nuclear reactor, threatening to unleash a lethal radioactive cloud. The only one who can stop them is Luc Deveraux (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a UniSol who's been decommissioned for years. Reactivated and retrained, Deveraux must make a full-out assault on the heavily armed fortress. But inside, he'll discover not one but two of these virtually indestructible warriors. Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren), Deveraux's vicious UniSol enemy from the original Universal Soldier, has been secretly reanimated and upgraded. Trailer: Jcvd In Universal Soldier: Regeneration

23 November 2009 10:24 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Even after Jcvd completely deconstructed his image and legacy, Jean-Claude Van Damme continues giving the people what they want in the form of straight-up action movies. Coming this January he revisits the terrain of Universal Soldier with yet another movie, Universal Soldier: Regeneration. Yes, it's going directly to DVD, but that doesn't mean the chance to see Van Damme, Andrei Arlovski and Dolph Lundgren duking it out won't be appreciated. Check out the trailer below for just the kind of artillery and catchphrases you've come to expect. Universal Soldier: Regeneration comes to DVD on January 5th. »

Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren

23 November 2009 9:44 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Back in April, Wintle brought us news [1] of a new Universal Soldier movie that was in production, starring both Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Although technically it would count as the fifth movie in the series, the story line picks up after Universal Soldier: The Return (the only sequel that also starred Jcvd) making it the "official" part 3. Now a trailer for Universal Soldier: Regeneration has arrived online, and while it certainly looks like a direct-to-dvd release (which it is), I'm sure action movie fans will still find some stuff worth getting excited about here. As with all the other Dtv action flicks we've been getting lately, the movie also co-stars an Mma fighter: Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski. The story involves a group of terrorists taking over Chernobyl and threatening to "unleash a radioactive cloud" unless their demands are met. Director John Hyams (The Smashing Machine, Rank) calls it an '80s nostalgia piece, »

Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer: The Mission is Simple

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released the first trailer for the upcoming Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren movie Universal Soldier: Regeneration today, leaving us caught in a web of awesome. Our own Brian Salisbury reviewed this film at Fantastic Fest in early October, calling it a "stupendously entertaining reunion of Lundgren and Van Damme that packs the proverbial punch." Similarly, the trailer is like a punch to the chest, packed with sweet 'splosions. Rejoice! Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer Has Finally Arrived!

23 November 2009 7:49 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

I’ve been excited about this project for quite some time, despite the fact that the previous entries in the series — excluding the ass-kicking original, of course — are the cinematic equivalent of sticking your both feet forcibly inserted into an industrial strength garbage disposal. If nothing else, “Universal Soldier: Regeneration” brings Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme back together for another round of superhuman sci-fi tomfoolery. Even if the movie is rancid from the basement to the rooftop, at least we get to see these two iconic action heroes smacking each other around for 90 minutes. For my entertainment dollar, that’s pretty darn snazzy. While taking a peek around Twitch this morning, I happened upon the official trailer for director John Hyams forthcoming production. And while it’s an admittedly lame preview, it does provide potential viewers with enough goofy imagery to whet their proverbial whistle. Assuming, of course, the »

Jean Claude. Dolph. Bad Photoshop. Must Be The New Universal Soldier Trailer.

23 November 2009 6:46 AM, PST | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Now, having seen the third Universal Soldier film at Fantastic Fest this past September I won't go so far as to say it's a really good film, per se, but it is certainly far, far better than that horrible DVD cover that Sony has foisted upon the straight to video release.  Seriously people, there are kids in high school that could do a better job than that and would've done it for free.  Icky.  It's also a good sight better than the pretty horrible trailer Sony has cut for the film.  But horrible or not, it's what we've got.
