Alternate versions for
Universal Soldier (1992) More at IMDbPro »

  • The Australian theatrical release of the film was heavily cut to receive and M rating. Gone were the head-shots to Vietnamese villagers, Scott getting the knife in the gut by Luc, the diner fight was heavily trimmed, a scientist getting impaled on a needle, the supermarket shootout and Dolph's demise on the farm machinery. All of these cuts were restored to an R rated video and later, an MA DVD release.

  • The new Region 1 Special Edition DVD features an alternate ending: Andrew Scott guns down Luc Devereaux's mother before their big fight. After Luc wins, he is shotgunned by his father before Dr. Gregor explains that those weren't his real parents. Then, agents with Dr. Gregor gun down Luc until the police, a news crew and a UniSol tech arrive to save his life and arrest the doctor and his men. Finally, there is a voice-over by Veronica with scenes of Luc reuniting with his real parents. In the voice-over, Veronica explains that Luc lived for two months, enjoying his family's company, but refusing any medical treatment until he died of natural causes.

  • German video retail version was heavily cut to receive a "Not under 16" rating. This version also aired on television. DVD (FSK 18) version is uncut.

  • The Norwegian VHS omits the part where Sgt Andrew Scott is cut to little pieces and spit into the air. The part where Luc Deveraux answers "Around", when the girl asks him where Scott is, is not cut though; and thus makes no sense.
