I feel this movie was well-intentioned, but one plotline is disjointed. In the beginning, we see that the father is demanding and overbearing, and then that plot is dropped until the third act.
The acting is good. It's hard to watch Shawn Phelan play Emmett from healthy to injured to recovery knowing that in real life, he didn't survive his brain injury.
