Today, Moviehole was able to uncover solid information about that Karate Kid remake starring Jaden Smith (produced by his daddy, Will Smith). First of all, it seems that the film is not going to be called “The Kung Fu Kid,” as rumors from a month ago had started to perceive. The title for the project is currently still The Karate Kid. I guess “Killer of Childhood Dreams” isn’t snappy enough.
Bitter remarks aside, it is worth discussing the new plot as it seems to update its original source with as many modern elements as possible. However, for those who want to be “surprised” by the film when it is released in a year, I will warn you that there are going to be Spoilers of some sort here.

Moviehole is reporting that the new "Karate Kid" remake is still being called "Karate Kid," instead of the previously-rumored "Kung Fu Kid." The names have been changed as well; Jaden Smith is now Dre and Jackie Chan is Mr. Han. The film is said to be very close to the original, but with a spin of its own. The site got their hands on a detailed plot summary, which you can read below. Plot: Sherry is offered a transfer to China. Considering the Us office is about to lay off everyone, it's really her only choice; especially since nobody else at the office has been offered a transfer. With her young son Dre (Jaden Smith) in tow, the single-mother makes Beijing her new home. Needless to say, not knowing Chinese, and experiencing a bit of culture shock, they both find it a little hard to settle in - - Dre especially.

And there was me thinking this was another remake for remake's sake! Moviehole got to speak to some of the peeps working on the film (still titled "The Karate Kid", despite rumours it'd be renamed "The Kung Fu Kid") and they got to talking about the plot of the movie.
Normally when a film is this early in production, people stay tight lipped about actual plot details, these guys though, they gave us the full synopsis! Check it out below:
