You are on the wrong website if you don’t know who William Shatner is. Whether or not you are a Star Trek fan is irrelevant for you to appreciate Shatner’s impact on pop culture. From his role as Captain James T. Kirk to turns on The Twilight Zone, Tj Hooker, Rescue 911, Boston Legal, and more, Shatner has been a pop culture stalwart since the 1960s. Having written books, released albums, and performed on stage, William Shatner’s legacy hit a pinnacle when he joined Jeff Bezos for a spaceflight a few years ago. From fictional space to real stars, Shatner is a legend.
At 93 years old, William Shatner also knows his time on this planet is coming to an end in the near future. His new documentary, You Can Call Me Bill, mediates his place in the cosmos and what it has meant to have lived almost a century of happiness.

Few actors are as iconic as William Shatner. The legendary performer is, of course, best known as Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek film and television series. But even fans who have followed his work for decades might know too much about Shatner’s personal life. For instance, he and Elizabeth Martin reunited years after finalizing their divorce.
William Shatner has done a lot more than ‘Star Trek’
Casual fans, again, probably know Shatner best for Star Trek. But the actor has worked on way more film and television projects than some people may realize.
On TV, he starred in the popular police drama T.J. Hooker in the 1980s and won two Emmy Awards for his scene-stealing role as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. Plus, he’s hosted countless TV shows, including Rescue 911.

Imagine if “Pawn Stars,” “American Pickers” and “Storage Wars” created a mashup spinoff, but with a higher purpose.
That’s what viewers will find when they tune into “Operation Hidden Treasures,” Discovery Channel’s new reality series that puts the spotlight on America’s veterans, as so few TV shows do.
The half-hour unscripted series follows members of the world’s biggest military veterans’ enterprise, JDog Junk Removal and Hauling, as they turn someone’s trash into someone else’s treasure, all for a good cause.
“I understand that trainwreck reality shows will always be popular, but I love making reality TV that showcases amazing people doing interesting things,” says executive producer Jim Milio.
Milio, who co-executive produced the film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and hails from shows such shows National Geographic’s “Dog Whisperer,” History’s “Founding Fathers” and “Rescue 911” from CBS, has worked on many television projects that have positive impact.

Back in the 1990s, CBS did very well with a docu-series called Rescue 911, hosted by William Shatner, which follows calls to 911 and emergencies. A revival of that series didn't come to fruition but now, ABC is trying their own show on a similar concept. How will this new docu-series perform in the ratings? Will Emergency Call be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
An unscripted TV series, Emergency Call documents the first few crucial minutes of emergencies as told through the lens of America's 911 call takers. An estimated 240 million calls are made every year to 911 call centers across the country. Hosted by actor Luke Wilson, the program follows the dramatic moments leading up to the arrival of help rather than the events after the firefighters, police, or emergency medical services teams arrive.

Exclusive: Deborah Barak, CBS’ President of Business Operations, will be leaving at the end of the year after three and a half decades at the company. During her tenure, the unassuming and press-shy Barak has established herself as one of the most prominent, highly respected and influential business affairs executives in television, negotiating mega pacts, creating deal templates and introducing business models.
The departure had been in the works for quite some time and is not connected to the ongoing ViacomCBS integration activities or the pending leadership change at CBS, according to sources. Barak signaled her plans at the time of her last contract renewal about a year and a half ago when the veteran executive dialed back to being in the office three days a week and indicated that the new contract would likely be her last term. She spent the last 18 months mentoring her team and delegating responsibilities...

“Rescue 911” could be returning to the airwaves.
Variety has learned exclusively that a reboot of the classic series is currently in the works. However, unlike the original show, this new weekly, two-hour format would offer a live look at first responders taking real emergency calls every week. Original series host William Shatner would return to host the new series, with the veteran actor joining a panel made up of actual fire fighters, EMTs, and police personnel discussing the emergency calls in real time.
Shatner, Craig Piligian, Anthony Zuiker, and Jason Hervey will executive produce, with the latter three having created the reboot. CBS Television Studios is developing the project. No network is currently attached, but an individual with knowledge of the project says that it has generated significant interest in the marketplace already.
This marks a homecoming of sorts for Zuiker, who famously created the “CSI” franchise at CBS. Piligian...

I’ve been watching, among other things, the current reboot of ‘Will & Grace‘. One of, many, many, many new TV reboots that are occurring. Alright, I know, I’m not breaking any new ground, Hollywood’s not that original, blah, blah, blah. Still though, this TV reboot caught my attention. For one thing–really? This show you’re rebooting? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love ‘Will & Grace‘ I actually I might argue that it’s one of the more underrated shows of all-time, and had it not been directly up against ‘CSI‘ for so many years, I think it might’ve won more Best Comedy Series Emmys than it actually did. It’s still one of only three series, ‘All in the Family‘ and ‘The Golden Girls‘ being the others, where every original main member of the regular cast won an acting Emmy for said series. I...

Omg Emt! is coming to TLC, the network announced today. The four-part series, which debuts Saturday, May 3, depicts "some of the most memorable and unusual emergency calls, told by real-life EMTs who face these stranger-than-fiction scenarios every day," according to the announcement. TLC likes to give new shows a trial run, so if Omg Emt! turns out to be popular, expect a lot more of it very quickly. Not to disparage the important and interesting work that EMTs and other first responders do, but it's hard not to wish for a straight-up reboot of Rescue 911. ...

From 1989 to 1996, reality television had nothing to do with housewives, teen parenthood, or competitions of any kind. Instead, it had everything to do with real-life emergencies, re-enactments, and William Shatner. I’m talking about Rescue 911.
The show, narrated/hosted by Shatner, told the stories behind actual 911 calls through interviews and dramatic re-enactments. There were stories of heart attacks, fire ants, hostage situations, mothers giving birth, and more. And if you were a young child watching the show, you had at least one episode that was forever burned into your memory. For me and my brother, it was the kid...

Remember "Rescue 911"? In the era before the glut of reality shows, it was a precursor of sorts, a program that offered up re-enactments of real life situations and emergencies, all narrated and given gravitas by the show's host, William Shatner. And if you ever wondered what a big screen version of that might be, "The Call" seems to come pretty close. It's not based on a true story, but the thriller sees Halle Berry play a worker in a call center who gets very, very involved when a young girl (Abigail Breslin) is kidnapped and put in the trunk of a car by a crazed killer who likes driving around a lot. The new trailer isn't so different from the first one, but it does offer up enough new stuff to make it worth a curious click. And we have to admit, we kind of want to see how...

New York — He doesn't beam in, but William Shatner does the next best thing at the start of his one-man Broadway show: He appears to the familiar orchestral strains of the "Star Trek" theme.
Then he soaks up the applause.
"Thank you," he says when it finally dies down. "You need an entrance because you put on a few years and a few pounds, nobody recognizes you."
That won't be a problem at the Music Box Theatre, where "Shatner's World: We Just Live In It" opened Thursday for a limited run ahead of a monthlong, 15-city U.S. tour. Shatner may be many things – goofy, charming, playful and crass – but he's instantly recognizable.
During his 100-minute set that flits between self and self-parody, Shatner traces his life – from growing up in Canada to acting alongside Christopher Plummer to "Star Trek" and "Boston Legal" to his musical career. He does it...

It's too bad "Game Ogre" didn’t air prior to my midseason report card - because my take on things could have been remarkably different. But at least now Grimm can be complimented for showing definite improvement.
Although everyone has a little bit more to do and say this week, the core is still the same: Eddie and Nick. Previously, the two of them have been happy just to give each other a little push and pull to help fill their respective gaps in knowledge and joke with each other. This week, though, a true friendship blossomed, with Nick giving Eddie the keys to his kingdom.
It takes plenty of trust on both sides to do such a thing. Eddie is “the enemy” and Nick is entrusted with fighting all of these Grimms. Eddie could have easily used this information about Nick, Grimms and the arsenal that comes with the...

Today marks the 80th birthday of William Shatner. It's hard to think of any other actor who's had such a long and varied career on the small screen. In addition to starring as Captain James T. Kirk on Star Trek, one of the medium's most popular shows, Shatner has starred in seven other shows as well -- Star Trek: The Animated Series, Barbary Coast, For the People, T.J. Hooker, Rescue 911, Boston Legal, and currently $#*! My Dad Says.
And, who could forget his memorable guest shots on shows like The Twilight Zone, Dr. Kildare, 77 Sunset Strip, The Defenders (the 1960s original), Mission: Impossible, Columbo, TekWar, 3rd Rock From the Sun, and The Practice?

Nothing William Shatner has ever done is safe. First they replaced him as Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek, and now Hollywood is on the lookout for some stud to take over as T.J. Hooker. Variety reports that a T.J. Hooker movie is happening as an action-comedy. I.m not sure how you make a feature out of Rescue 911, but rest assured that too will happen eventually. Chuck Russell, who helmed The Mask, is in talks to direct the film. Weirdly, word is that the story will focus on T.J. Hooker.s relationship with his father when, everybody knows the whole thing really ought to be about hood-sliding. The original television show, which ran from 1982 to 1986, starred William Shatner as the titular Hooker, a plainclothes detective who after the murder of his partner goes back the life of sirens and uniforms. Even in its first season, ...

WGA West said Wednesday that Sonja Augustine has been appointed its employment access director, a role that helps promote diversity among hiring practices by studios, networks and other companies. WGAW executive director John McLean said Augustine's legal and programming skills would help expand the guild's diversity efforts. "With her dynamic personality, I have no doubt she will open new doors within the industry," McLean said. Added Augustine: "The challenge is to ensure that all writers have access to compete in the marketplace -- that will require creative and innovative approaches." Augustine, whose new role at WGAW begins immediately, worked for five years as director of current programming at CBS, supervising series production and script development for such shows as Rescue 911, Family Matters, The Cosby Show and Diagnosis Murder. She more recently was a collateral investigator for the U.S. Probation Office and an administrative law clerk to two U.S. District Court judges.
