Oh, good. We definitely need another TV show about werewolves. MTV's proposed Teen Wolf remake series was not cutting it for me. Now, Fox is developing Howl, a saga about warring families of werewolves in a small Alaska town. It is presumably not about beatnik werewolves, the best minds of our generation. Does this mean Fox is on Team Jacob? Omg Lol. Actually, Fox did air a series called Werewolf (starring Chuck Connors, pictured) from 1987-88. Thanks to reader Jeff for Werewolf's complete unofficial site, which is completely terrifying because when you drag your cursor over the menu options,...

Today’s peak into the Fangoria file (our 30-year stash of press releases and photos) conjures up a short-lived series from the early days of Fox Television -1987 to be specific. Werewolf was conceived as a dramatic Prime-Time half-hour series to be aired every Saturday. I’d tell you more, but then I never actually watched it. The series aired an unbelievable 29 episodes in its first season. Sadly, it never returned for a second run, probably to make way for more episodes of Models Inc. Wow! What a dated reference.

A little sliver of bad news for fans of "Werewolf". We won't be seeing it in stores as planned on September 1st from Shout Factory! Don't get too broken up though; the delay is not a long one.
According to TVShowsOnDVD the five-disc DVD set has been pushed back about a month for an October 6th release.
The site also learned what a couple of the included special features will be. Fans can expect two featurettes for sure with more likely to come. Look for -- The Man Who Was Alamo Joe with actor Lance LeGault and To Build a Better Werewolf with make-up F/X coordinators Greg Cannom and Gino Crognale to be tantalizing your supplemental bone. More soon!
Thanks to Dread Central reader Amatsu Mikaboshi for the heads-up!

Stow the bootleg and get ready, the 1987 series Werewolf is coming to DVD later this year. TV Shows on DVD reports Shout! Factory is prepping to release a box set of the show on September 1st. It's still too early for an official announcement so official specs are not available. The show, which attracted FX artists Rick Baker and Greg Cannom, follows a young man, Eric (John York), as he attempts to track down the werewolf who bit him.

Get ready to throw away your bootlegs (you know you bought them)! Everyone's favorite TV Werewolf show from 1987 is Finally making its jump to DVD and this is the cause for much rejoicing!
TV Shows on DVD reports tonight that Shout! Factory has picked up the distribution rights for the ill fated series "Werewolf" and hope to be releasing it on September 1st of this year!
It's still very early in the game so there's no word on supplemental material at all but just to have clear non-bootlegged versions of all twenty-eight episodes and the two hour pilot? Holy shit! We can't think of anything today that has made us happier to hear.
For those who don't know or just don't remember the show starred John J. York as a lycanthrope on the run from a bounty hunter while trying to cure his curse. Sure that's basically the same storyline...
