I first saw this movie in the theatre so long ago. Recently watched the LASERDISK! Can you believe that? It held up in a lot of ways. Never tried to be Rocky or Raging Bull, just a simple story of three men trying to claw their way up into the ring of life. Shitty direction (Joe Roth- remember Revenge of the Nerds??!!) But the actors really did not suffer from it. The movie was predictable in many ways, but shoot, it's a boxing pic and how many ways can you tell it? Wesley Snipes was young and ernest, as was Adrian Pasdar. I hate that bastard Brandour, He never seemed to be in the same movie with the kids. Always seems to be stuck up about something. He was great in Mephisto and Out of Africa, but I heard Meryl Steep wanted nothing to do with him. Like he tried to stick his face down her throat every time they kissed! Word from the set was that Adrian Pasdar left him a stinky gift in his trailer on one morning! Hope that is true. The fight scenes were realistic, and the score was appropriate by Jack Nietchie (sp?) anyway, if you like Pasdar and Snipes, here they are as kids. Always fun to track back. Oh! Pasdars girlfriend in the flick is played by a babe named Rainbow Harvest. They dated for awhile after the film came out, i believe, Hottie fro Brooklyn, if you know what mean. This movie was shot weeks after Mr Pasdar wrapped MADE IN USA. Cannot believe it's the same actor. WhaT happened to him? Where is he? On TV. Poo to that.
