Trivia:
A plot device is borrowed from The Black Windmill (1974). In one film Michael Caine's son is kidnapped and to get the ransom (uncut diamonds) he impersonates his boss (Donald Pleasence) on the phone and gives himself permission to take the diamonds from work (MI5). In the other Billy Crystal's ex-wife is kidnapped and he impersonates his boss ('Dan Hedeya') on the telephone to give himself permission to take the ransom (cocaine held as evidence) from work (Chicago police department).

It's predictable. It's typical. It's very 80s. It's also very good. As was said before, the chemistry between the two stars is incredible. If you liked Beverly Hills Cop, you'll love this film (in fact, I just watched them both back to back, and enjoyed them both equally). It is non-stop one liners that drip with wit. As 80s cop movies go, this is among the best. There are tonnes of great scenes.
