Final film of Nancy Malone.
The title references the James V. Monaco/ Joseph McCarthy-penned traditional pop classic "You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It" which includes the stanza: "You made me happy sometimes/ Sometimes you made me glad/ But there were times, dear/ You made me feel so bad."
Screen envoi for veteran actress Nancy Malone (Louise) who also served as the film's director and co-producer. Malone's first assignment as a producer had been Winner Take All (1975) which, like "There Were Times, Dear", had starred Shirley Jones.
