On Sunday, November 22nd, a fundraiser is being held at the Victory Theatre Center in Burbank, California at 7:45 pm til 9 p.m.
What makes this of interest to Fangoria is that most of the guests have an impressive horror pedigree, including Keith David, star of John Carpenter's The Thing and They Live, Harry Manfredi, composer of the Friday The 13th theme, Miguel Nunez, Jr. ('Spider' from Return Of The Living Dead and Friday The 13th: A New Beginning), Fresh Prince Of Bel Air's Karyn Parsons (who also starred in Death Spa/Witch Bitch) and James Avery (Nightflyers), as well as Michael D. Walton, who suffers a truly gory fate in the upcoming Black Waters Of Echo's Pond.
Tickets are $25.00--the money will finance a March 2010 production of the acclaimed play, Topdog/Underdog. One hour event, followed by a wine and food reception.
The Victory Theatre Center is at 3326 W Victory Blvd in Burbank,

With the release of the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street fast approaching, Daniel Farrands brings us his latest exposition focusing on the guy who.s kept millions awake at night, Freddy Krueger. Farrands teamed up with Dread Central.s Andrew Kasch to put together Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy, a feature-length documentary about the iconic horror movie franchise.
Farrands knows what he.s doing when it comes to revisiting the best in slasher series. One of his first directorial gigs was actually a mockumentary about Jason Voorhees called The Crystal Lake Massacres Revisited. The piece was separated into three parts and included on the new deluxe edition DVDs of Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. He is also responsible for the well-received documentary His Name Was Jason: 30 Years

Blu-Ray Review: Jason Voorhees Returns in Killer Cut of ‘Friday the 13th’

Chicago – The reboot of “Friday the 13th” was another financially successful notch in the belt of Platinum Dunes, the film company behind the remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “The Hitcher,” and “The Amityville Horror”. Making $90 million worldwide and more domestically than any previous Jason Voorhees movie (that didn’t include Freddy Krueger), “Friday the 13th” has a following that will be ecstatic with the excellent Blu-Ray release for the slasher title.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0
The Blu-Ray of “Friday the 13th” delivers everything fans could ask for. Not only do they present a longer and better cut of the film in the 9-minutes-longer “Extended Cut,” but the special features enhance the “Friday the 13th” experience and the technical transfer is nearly flawless.
Friday the 13th was released on Blu-Ray on June 16th, 2009.

As for the film itself, my response to “Friday the 13th” is mixed at best. I love

Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning and Part VI: Jason Lives (DVD Reviews)

Every slasher fan has their own choice as the best in the original Jason Voorhees film series, and mine is Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. From its opening title that winks at the James Bond flicks, this entry provided a welcome sense of knowing humor to the by-then repetitious proceedings, without making fun of Jason himself. (As writer/director Tom McLoughlin has often stated, and does so again on the new Deluxe Edition DVD, that was one of franchise producer Frank Mancuso Jr.’s directives when McLoughlin took this gig.)
Those light touches, and the general panache McLoughlin brings to the film, were a refreshing change from the crudities of the previous A New Beginning (which doesn’t actually sport a Part V on screen—and, as mentioned on its own Deluxe disc, was actually called Repetition during filming). Director/co-writer Danny Steinmann does bring a rude energy to this entry,

DVD Playhouse—June 2009
By
Allen Gardner
The International (Sony) An Interpol agent (Clive Owen) joins forces with a Manhattan D.A. (Naomi Watts) to bring down an arms dealing ring and a corrupt global banking cartel that’s funding them. Superlative thriller was oddly ignored by critics and audiences alike, but expertly blends intelligence (courtesy screenwriter Eric Warren Singer’s masterfully-crafted script) and full-throttle action (director Tom Tykwer stages one of the great film shoot-outs in New York’s iconic Guggenheim Museum), making this dynamite thriller reminiscent of the best work from masters such as John Frankenheimer and Robert Aldrich. Armin Mueller-Stahl is wonderful as a world-weary covert op. Bonuses: Extended scene; Featurettes; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby 5.1 surround.
The Jack Lemmon Film Collection(Sony) Five films from the two-time Oscar winning actor, focusing on his early career: Phfft! is a zippy comedy from 1954, one of Lemmon’s earliest films, in which
