The street used for exterior shots is Pin Oak Court in Vermont South, in the heart of Melbourne's middle-class suburbia. The houses are owned and lived in by real residents. Grundy Television pay the residents for the use of the court and now also provide security at night times after a number of vandal attacks.
The show's longest-running character was Helen Daniels who appeared until episode 2,965, when Anne Haddy was forced to give up her role due to ill health.
The show is the longest running drama in Australian television history, and recorded its 4,000th episode on 21 December 2001.

The soap is set in the fictional Autralian suburb of Erinsborough, which is an anagram of 'Neighbours' with an extra O and R.
Is the sixth Australian soap opera to appear on U.S. television (Paradise Beach, Pacific Drive, Home & Away, Prisoner, and The Sullivans are the others). In July of 2004, it also became the sixth Australian soap opera to be discontinued in the United States.
