Sad news today as it’s been announced that Richard Moll, who played Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of Night Court, has died at the age of 80. His publicist confirmed that he died at his home in Big Bear Lake on Thursday.
Although Richard Moll is best known for his work on Night Court, he had quite a sprawling filmography. He made appearances in movies such as Cavemen, Evilspeak, The Sword and the Sorcerer, The Dungeonmaster, Night Train to Terror, House, Wicked Stepmother, Sidekicks, Loaded Weapon 1, The Flintstones, Jingle All the Way, Scary Movie 2, and more. He was also featured in episodes of Happy Days, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, T.J. Hooker, Remington Steele, The Dukes of Hazzard, The A-Team, Highlander: The Series, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Hercules: The Legendary Adventures, Babylon 5, Baywatch, Married… with Children, Smallville, and more.

‘We Might Hurt Each Other’ – ‘Friday the 13th’-Inspired Slasher Hits Screambox *Tomorrow*! [Trailer]
Straight out of the Chattanooga premiere, Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting’s throwback slasher We Might Hurt Each Other (formerly Pensive) arrives on our Screambox streaming platform tomorrow!
The bloody Lithuanian teen horror was directed by Jonas Trukanas and stars Gabija Bargailaite (Pilgrims) and calls back to slasher classics like Friday the 13th.
Inspired by local legends, Pensive follows a group of privileged high school classmates. After these classmates destroy a set of life-size wooden statues during a wild graduation party, a mysterious masked killer begins picking the group off one by one.
Gory and glorious, Pensive is a gritty throwback to the 80s and the heyday of slasher cinema. Calling back to Friday the 13th, the filmmakers took what was great about the era and give it a refreshing lift with the infusion of Eastern European folklore. Check out the trailer below.

The second of the Philip Yordan and John Carr collaborations released by Tetrovideo recently, Marilyn Alive and Behind Bars was originally filmed in the early 80s. Filmed but unfinished, with some portions of the movie incorporated into the anthology Night Train to Terror, in the segment “The Case of Harry Billings,” which was released in 1985. After that, the producers completed their version of this movie, using almost all the materials filmed and released this version of the film on VHS as Scream Your Head Off. That film made an appearance in 1992’s Dead Girls Don’t Tango as a film showing at the La Paloma cinema which was at the centre of the film’s story.

If there's a basic, no-frills definition for movies, it's that they're made to be seen. Cinema is a populist medium, attempting to reach as wide an audience as possible for as long as possible.
Perhaps that's why the feeling of "discovering" a movie can be so powerfully enjoyable. It gives you the sense, however false, that you're stumbling upon a secret piece of entertainment made just for you. If you happen to discover such a movie in the wee hours of the morning, so much the better — the surreal setting only serves to make what you're watching seem that much more unreal, richer, and special.
It's that sensation that the programming block on Turner Classic Movies known as "TCM Underground" sought to capture every Friday night-turned-Saturday morning. Begun by Eric Weber in 2006 and continued by programmer Millie De Chirico starting in 2007, TCM Underground made it its business to curate some of the most obscure,...

The 21st Japanese Film Festival Nippon Connection is planned as a hybrid event and is scheduled for June 1 to 6, 2021. The event is expected to take place online and at a few selected venues in the city of Frankfurt am Main. On six days, the world’s largest festival for Japanese cinema presents a selection of over 100 current Japanese short and feature-length films. All films will be available via video on demand. In addition, several filmmakers will participate in online discussions and interviews live from Japan. Digital workshops, lectures, performances, and concerts complement the program.
Due to uncertainties regarding the further progression of the pandemic and associated regulations, planning the festival is extremely difficult. The organizing team of the Nippon Connection film festival is hopeful, however, that it will be possible to offer on-site cinema as well. “Film festivals always live from shared moments in the cinema and the film experience...

A movie featuring two actors I really like, John Jarrett (Wolf Creek) and Danielle Harris, as the leads had to be good, right? With Skin Collector I was going to find out.
I can say that when those two actors on screen together the film is at its best and the last third of the film features this a lot. They don’t necessarily have perfect chemistry but they are both very good actors and are putting in good performances, so it does work for the most part. Unfortunately, they are fighting against a really poor script, which at times has lines that I just shook my head at. Lines that it doesn’t feel like anybody would say in ‘real life’, let alone these characters.

In the latest years, Toshiaki Toyoda has also embarked on an exploration of experimental cinema, mostly revolving around the connection of image and music, with films like “The Planetist” and “The Day of Destruction” being testament to the fact. “Shiver” continues in this path, with a music-video like approach that follows the rules of Ettō, is a new type of music video streaming program, rooted in local cultures, that enables artists to travel around Japan, while doing research and passing on their insights, while aiming to spread awareness of the music, culture, and local lifestyles that have formed them. In this particular case, Toyoda has shot the collaboration between the emerging contemporary musician Koshiro Hino and the Sado Island-based Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble “Kodo”, in a movie that was entirely recorded at the rehearsal hall in Kodo village and Sado Island.

Jónsi and Robyn have shared a dizzying blast of future pop, “Salt Licorice,” set to appear on the Sigur Rós frontman’s next solo album, Shiver, out October 2nd on Krunk.
“Salt Licorice” was produced by Avant-pop favorite A.G. Cook, who takes a grinding industrial intro and shapes it into a jagged, propulsive but always engrossing pop stomp. Robyn and Jónsi split vocal duties, coming together on the track’s hook, “You spread your wings, T-shirt, shoulder blades/Your skinny waist is making me throw up/Ooh my Scandinavian pain.

The newest collection of stories from the master of Horror Manga, Junji Ito. “Venus in the Blind Spot” contains a few iconic works of the mangaka along with adaptations of Edogawa Rampo and Robert Hichens.
Billed as a “best of” release of some the iconic creator’s work, the newest edition from Viz media exists as the highest quality one to date, an impressive feat granted the publisher’s history with the mangaka. However, the phenomenal approach in presentation becomes marred in the story selection which, many fans would agree, is a far-cry from the most notable work created by the master of horror.
To lead on a positive, the release gloriously frames the art of Ito, with opening pages on glossy stock, highlighting his unique visual approach (these pages also include a mini-poster which is a welcomed collectible). In the vein of previous releases, the book...

The title of Waylon Payne’s upcoming second album is a mouthful. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter’s Blue Eyes, the Harlot, the Queer, the Pusher, & Me derives its name from a bleak period in Payne’s life when he was in the grips of a debilitating drug addiction and grieving the death of his mother, “Help Me Make It Through the Night” singer Sammi Smith. As horror fans, we are constantly seeking out the new and the different. Because the genre is marked by so much sameness—sequels, franchises, remakes, copies of copies—it can sometimes be a challenge to find those horror films that truly carve out their own space. They don’t even have to be great movies, necessarily; many times, “different” is enough to make us happy.
With that in mind, here are 10 horror movies currently available on the terrific streaming service Shudder that are, if nothing else, different from almost anything else you’ll watch this October. They vary in quality from title to title, but what even the roughest among them lacks in technical polish, it more than makes up for in sheer maniac insanity. After you’ve cycled through all your favorites this October, why not add a little Wtf to your lineup?

The thing I miss the most about the heyday of the ’80s slasher movie is that there were so many of them that eventually filmmakers had to start finding ways to shake up the formula and continually introduce weirder and weirder stuff. That's not to say that all of these movies were necessarily "good," but that they managed to be distinctive within a sub-genre known for its sameness. For as good as horror is today—and we are in a really good place for horror—there is no one corner of the genre that is so prevalent as the slasher once was that inspires various permutations. We don't get a Sleepaway Camp or a Blood Rage much anymore. The reasons for this are ultimately positive and encouraging—the current crop of horror films are so vastly different from one another that we avoid this phenomenon—but it still makes me...

Back in April, for twelve weeks straight, I reviewed a different Werner Herzog movie as they came available on the streaming service Fandor.com . Now the site is preparing for Halloween with a very special release of Kino Lorber's new 4K restoration of Robert Wiene's classic horror thriller The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari exclusively on the site beginning Halloween. And on that day (October 31st), and for one day only, the film will be available to everyone, even if you do not have a Fandor subscription! However, I have a special gift for one (1) lucky reader, a one (1) year subscription to Fandor.com and beyond the Herzog titles and the release of Caligari there is a lot more to explore. For example, also in celebration of Halloween, the site has George A. Romero's 1698 zombie classic Night of the Living Dead as well as Romero's original 1973 feature The Crazies.

Night Train to Terror. There's definitely something in the air about this film. I've heard it discussed on multiple podcasts; hell, I even caught up to it for the first time to discuss on The Bloodcast when we tackled anthology films. This stitched together flick is now getting some love on vinyl. The cats at One Way Static are releasing a 7" Ep that will feature the tracks "Everybody But You" and "Grettas Theme." You can listen to both at One Way's site. There you can pre-order the film if you live overseas or in the U.S.

Our beloved distro company of some of the best Italian Horror features on DVD stepped into the Blu-ray market to tackle… a Western. The factory that shouts let out a great big Scream. When Ploitation meats the Arts we have found a label that can still shock us with new releases that try just hard enough to get our attention and a company called Millennium puts out movies from mid way through last century trying to Hammer their brand into our classic horror minds.
This is my personal favorite list from 2013. This could be an endless list and doesn’t quite stretch to all the companies worth nodding to. Severin and IFC put out some really solid releases as well...

The Motion Picture:
'Night Train to Terror' (1985), directed by John Carr, Phillip Marshak, Tom McGowan, Jay Schlossberg-Cohen and Gregg C. Tallas
Also Known As:
'Death Wish Club,' 'The Nightmare Never Ends' and 'Scream Your Head Off,' the three films that footage was "borrowed" from to make this movie.
Featuring the Talented:
Ferdy Mayne as Mr. God, Tony Giorgio as Mr. Satan, Byron Yordan as the '80s-tastic singer of the rock band traveling on the titular locomotive and Richard Moll (Bull from 'Night Court') in not one, but two roles!

Junk Food Dinner returns with three movies that no one can agree on!
First up, we have 1982's "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains" starring very young Diane Lane and Laura Dern as a punk band that takes the world by storm. The film also co-stars a couple of the Sex Pistols.
Then, we take a look at one of Patrick Bateman's favorite films, "Body Double," from 1984, directed by Brian De Palma and starring Melanie Griffth's boobs. In this one, we find out how house sitting can become dangerous and have sexy results.
Finally, we are completely baffled by 1985's "Night Train to Terror," an anthology of horror stories set around a chess game between God and Satan.
Direct MP3 Download.
