Three and an Elephant!
Sylviastel16 June 2008
Sharon, Lois and Bram could be easily Canada's answer to America's Peter, Paul, and Mary but with an elephant and children's songs. I remember watching this on Nickelodeon as a kid. I remember them singing their songs included the famous elephant song and their on location in lovely Canada. I love Canada thanks to Nickelodeon who in it's early days imported lots of Canadian children shows. Sharon, Lois, and Bram always sang in harmony and they were genuinely fond of each other and children whether in Canada or the world. They treated it's fans which were mostly children with parents as people rather than little kids. I miss those days of my childhood and I wished that the children today can appreciate and enjoy Sharon, Lois, and Bram and the Elephant Show hopefully on DVD today.

Cute show
Catherine_Grace_Zeh6 August 2008
I used to watch this show when I was a little girl. When I think about it, I remember it very well. If you ask me, it was a cute show. One thing I sort of remember is the opening sequence and theme song. In addition to that, everyone was ideally cast. The writing was also very strong. The performances were top-grade, too. I hope some network brings it back so your kids can see every episode. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that I'll always remember this show in my memory forever, even though I don't think I've seen every episode. Now, in conclusion, if some network ever brings it back, I hope that you catch it one day before it goes off the air for good.

Skinnamarinky dinky dink skinnamarinky doo, I loooove you!

I have the best memories of being maybe two or three years old and singing along with the three hosts of this program. The Elephant Show was an essential part of my day. As far as what they did on the show, I don't remember too much except that they always seemed to be outdoors and sang a lot. I seem to remember people dressed in costumes as well. No doubt the best parts were the opening and ending credits. It opened with a cartoon drawing of an elephant walking on a spiderweb and the "cool" music. And who can forget the Skinnamarinky Dinky song? I can still do the arm motions when prompted. What happened to the Elephant Show, or Sharon, Lois, and Bram for that matter? Society seriously needs this show in reruns, even if it's just on the second crappy PBS station no one cares about. Please throw out stalwarts like the annoying "Caillou" and replace it with this!

The Elephant In The Room Isn't So Bad
AsifZamir14 November 2013
What-ever happened to just simple, fun witty educational children shows? Has TV changed so much that we are forgetting some of the best classic children's shows of all time? Sharon, Lois and Bram's, The Elephant Show, was an all time family favourite with fun catchy songs that one simply carries with them and does not forget. Remember the elephant song, "One elephant went out to play upon a spiders web one day..." and let's not forget "Skidamarink" - "Skidamarink a-dink, a-dink, Skidamarink a-doo, I love you."

The Elephant Show aired originally on CBC from 1984 to 1988. Sharon, Lois and Bram make singing and learning an experience to be enjoyed and remembered in this series. Each episode starts with an elephant walking along a spider web and calls for another elephant to come and then everyone to come and then Sharon, Lois and Bram pop on screen. Each episode features a mini concert with Sharon, Lois and Bram as well as the Mammoth Band and themes depicted in the Elephant Show address everyday issues children face such as clearing up arguments. The Elephant Show, I know I would have been missing out without seeing it. These are the kinds of shows that should be family treasures, passed down from generation to generation.

Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show: A GREAT show!!!!!
kristopherstengele20044 September 2006
I remember (yes I actually remember!) when I was little (about 2) I was sitting on my grandparent's couch and my uncle was flipping through the channels on TV when Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show came on Nick Jr. We decided to watch it and ever since then, I was hooked. I still am today. It's a great show and I LOVE Sharon, Lois & Bram. They always bring a smile to my face when I watch one of their movies or hear them sing one of their songs. I've seen the trio twice in my life when they came to Easton, PA. It was the concerts for their albums "All the Fun You Can Sing!" and "Great Big Hits". This past summer on May 29th, 2006 I drove all the way from PA to Ottawa Canada to hear Sharon & Bram perform. It was such a treat! I got pictures with them and even an autographed picture!!! Sharon, Lois & Bram have played an important role in my life and I don't know what I would do with out them. I've got most of their albums and many of their videos. I'm trying to collect the entire collection! So if Sharon, Lois & Bram ever come across this page, I'd just like to say Thanks for everything! Skinnamarink-y-dinky-dink... Skinnamarink-y-doo.... I love you! If anyone ever has any questions about SLB, contact me and maybe I'll be able to help! My address is: kristopherstengele2004@yahoo.com

Fan since childhood
ndablake30 November 2006
I was a little girl in the 80s and I absolutely LOVED the Elephant Show. It was good clean fun. We were allowed only a little bit of TV time in the day care I went to and we never missed the Elephant Show. My mom taped the episodes for me and she had no problem just letting me pop in a tape and watching it. I had 2 of the audio cassettes and wore them out. I found their music recently and listen to them all the time. I remember dancing to them and part of me still does want to dance to them. I can't wait until they are out on re-runs. I would definitely record them for my children to watch. This was one of the truly awesome shows of the 1980s and we learned so much from them. I wish I would have had the opportunity to watch them in person because I loved watching them on television.

One of the Best KID shows of all time
thefensk26 April 2007
We used to watch this with our daughter all the time. She loved it. She knew all the songs. It was a fun show and was engaging, entertaining, and educational. I guess you would call that "The three E's?"

We recently found an old unmarked VHS we had recorded to watch later that had one episode on it. We played it for our 2 year old grandson, who really does not watch more than about 2 minutes of TV at a time. He watched the entire show, start to finish. He wanted to watch it again.

WHY THE HECK AREN'T THESE SHOWS ON DVD!!!!!! They are a treasure ... kids today need them because kids entertainment is definitely not nearly as good ... these shows were about as good as you can get for young kids. sigh

A Gold elephant in the room

SLB...

Are and were big hits back in the 80s-90s. Their songs were fantastic. Great vibes and melody for the youth to sing and jump to. They didn't need a show because they already were great. Yet the show makes them even better.

Great segments, acting and fun for the children. As an over grown adult from time to time I still chill to their tunes.

They have an iconic song thats known all over the world.

Verdict: Great stuff.

One elephant went out to play upon a spider's web one day.
blackarachnia28 November 2005
They had such enormous fun that they called for another elephant to come. Two elephants went out to play upon a spider's web one day. They had such enormous fun that they called for another elephant to come. Three elephants went out to play upon a spider's web one day. They had such enormous fun that they called for everyone to come.

This show was such a fun show for me to watch. Sharon, Lois, and Bram always made learning fun and they had this way of reaching children that I don't think any other children's entertainers had.

If Sharon, Lois, and Bram should ever happen to come across this page I would say to them thank you for all of the good memories and thank you for reaching this kid in a way that she's never been reached before and thank you for the fun times.

This show is the shiznit!!
AldysClairveux5 August 2003
I used to watch this show ALL THE TIME when I was a little lass. When the show would start, and the song "One elephant went out to play, upon a spider's web one day. He had such enormous fun, that he called for another elephant to come," started to play, my mother and I would dance in the den together. When that show went off the air, there were other shows too: Fred Penner's Place, Eureka's Castle, David the Gnome. But once those shows went off the air as well, I lost faith in TV. WHEN WILL THEY LEARN WHEN A SHOW IS GOOD ENOUGH TO STAY ON?!?!?

Awesome entertainment
oldladyluvsbsb15 April 2006
My girls loved this show. We actually saw them live at the Broome County Arena. It was awesome. I have pictures! I remember Eureka and Fred, and David too. All those shows were just good clean fun for kids. I didn't have a problem leaving Nickelodeon on all day just for background noise, and the girls could come and go as they pleased. I'm sure shows like this still exist, they are just harder to find. Eventually they'll bring them back in reruns and a new generation of children will get hooked and sing skinnamarinkydinkydink all day long. I know it's something my girls will remember forever as being a great part of their childhood.

This was my favorite pre-kindergarten show!
Cyprus38616 April 2000
I remember every day I'd watch this show with my mom. Then I started kindergarten, Nickelodeon cancelled it, and all went downhill from there with the network, as you all know...darn! I'm getting off track again. I always sang along and pretended I knew what was going on, but I was four years old! I even saw them in concert twice, and that Eric Nagler guy in concert too, they all came to the area a few times around the time I started kindergarten. I wonder where they all are now...

Best ever Canadian kids show
KodyB28 July 2002
I watched this show all the time on TVO. It was fully entertaining and incorporated great Canadian pride. I will never forget the elephants, or Sharon Lois' and Bram's utter yearn to present a quality childrens show. Just to clarify Nickelodeon didn't produce the show, it was Television Ontario.

One of my most favorite kids show
dng200027 August 2003
Throughout my childhood, in the 1980's, this was one of my favorite shows on Nickelodeon. Along with that were Eureka's Castle, Today's Special, and Pinwheel, just to name a few. Those shows of the good old days are long gone and I missed them terribly since that was the era when I really enjoyed myself being in my parent's cozy apartment during my rainy Christmas break from school.

I can't forget this one!
Beta_Gallinger6 August 2007
"Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show" ran for four years in the 1980s. It appears I was born in the middle of the show's run, so I obviously don't have any memory of the show from the days when it was current. However, reruns of the show were played for years after its cancellation, and I can remember seeing a lot of them from the early to mid-1990s (at least)!

The main characters in the show, of course, included Sharon, Lois & Bram, a performing musical trio for kids, both in the show and in real life. Other main characters included an elephant on two legs (you could tell this was a human in a costume), and Eric Nagler (another kids' performer, once again, both in the show and in real life). Each episode featured several kids, as well as an adult guest. In the show, whether at their house or somewhere else, Sharon, Lois & Bram, along with the others, would sing songs and have problems to solve.

I can remember listening to some of Sharon, Lois & Bram's albums during my childhood. They were a memorable trio. I also listened to Eric Nagler a lot (he was definitely responsible for a lot of the humour in "Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show"), and can remember seeing some episodes of his own show, "Eric's World", which came after this show's demise. One weekend, back in 1996, I got to see Eric live in concert when he came to perform in the gymnasium/auditorium of a school right in my neighbourhood!

In addition to those four kids' performers, the show had some good guests (some of which contributed songs to the episode), interesting adventures, and lessons to be taught to the young viewers. It has now been a while since my childhood, and even longer since I last watched this show, but the memories remain! I don't know if there are any stations out there that play reruns of "Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show", but if not, there should be, as I'm sure it would be an amazing experience for today's kids as well!
