I like it!
TheLittleSongbird14 August 2009
The New Scooby Doo Mysteries is nice to watch, but doesn't quite have the ingredients that made Scooby Doo Where Are You and the Scooby Doo show so easy to like. On the plus side, the animation is very good, the characters are likable, and I am probably the only one who didn't mind Scrappy here, usually I do find him annoying, and the villains while a little predictable are not so bad. The voice talents are great, I have always loved Don Messick and Casey Kasem and their characterisations are what make this show at least watchable. Alas, this show does have flaws. I love the incidental music, but the theme tune I find forgettable. Also most of the episodes are 15 minutes at least, and compared to the half hour format of its predecessors, I feel that's too short. Fred and Velma are merely secondary characters, but make welcome guest appearances throughout the show's run. In conclusion, I really like the New Scooby Doo Mysteries if I care to overlook the flaws it has- my favourite episodes are A Nutcracker Scoob and the episode with the ghost of Sherlock Holmes. 7/10 Bethany Cox.

The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries
jboothmillard18 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Scooby-Doo Mysteries were so popular in the 70s so they obviously decided to bring the lovable dog back and create more mysteries. Casey Kasem obviously carried on with the good voice of Shaggy. There was obviously goodish characterisation from Scooby and Daphne, but where's Fred and Velma. The only character that did not work in this show was Scooby's nephew Scrappy-Doo. If they wanted the show to be even more successful and appear more of Fred and Velma they should have killed Scrappy. I HATE HIM! But apart from that little bastard of a puppy this show was okay. Apart from the obvious storyline, a new monster with a new and obvious villain underneath the mask. My favourite episode was probably for Scooby's birthday, and the return of The Red Skull. Okay, if only Scrappy was put down!

What did we do to deserve this??

Ok, when Scrappy Doo came along, Scooby Doo started to suck, but when this show came along, the cartoon, as well as the franchise was flushed down the toilet. Just like that. I mean this scooby incarnation is truly pathetic! The mysteries aren't as good as they were in the earlier days of the show's run, and the writers didn't seem to care, as well as put some effort into making this a half desent show! I mean Shaggy, and Scooby salvaged the true horrors that is this show with their humor. But however Fred, and Velma aren't on this show, so maybe THAT'S the main reason this show sucked. Scrappy Doo is still that little mutt that we love to hate so much! Whoever thought a sidekick would be good for scooby should be ashamed of himself. This show must have been a good mystery for ABC. When they realized this show stunk, they cancelled it, which solved the mystery. If you're into the older scooby shows (mainly "Scooby, Where are you?") then you'll definently want to stay away from this show at all costs!

One of the better Scooby Doo cartoons out there...
justin-fencsak18 August 2020
The intro borrows from Thriller with the monsters dancing to the theme song and has scooby doo climbing the Statue of Liberty. It is also the first Scooby Doo cartoon to use computer drawn animation and the last until A Pup Named Scooby Doo, which lasted three seasons.

Mystery, Inc. is back!
OllieSuave-0076 January 2017
The New Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo Show concept continues with this incarnation, The New Scooby Doo Mysteries, where Scooby, Shaggy, Scrappy and Daphne return for some more clue-finding and mystery solving episodes - more fun and suspenseful than the previous show.

While certain episodes contain two stories in one show rather than one entire chapter, the series is still quite entertaining with its laughs, jokes and daring adventures. And, as an added bonus, a few episodes feature the return of Fred and Velma; therefore, the entire Mystery, Inc. gang was intact again at long last! Also, I have to mention the very upbeat opening scene with its hip-sounding song - something you could dance or tap your toes to.

Overall, a very good addition to the Scooby-Doo saga!

Scooby-Doo: The Return
TheTVConnoisseur1 July 2003
Intelligently enough the producers of the show returned Scooby-Doo to his roots and had him solving mysteries. Where they flawed was in not bringing back the gang and getting rid of Scrappy. The mystery and villains are the lamest in the entire franchise and in my opinion an unnecessary show.

A Mere Continuation of the Previous Season, BUT we do get to see a reunion of a sorts
voicemaster716 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
1984 was a better year for Saturday morning programming I felt. First, we got the SuperFriends back for a couple of years and we had shows like Turbo Teen and Dragon's Lair. Then we had our 2 Scooby Doo shows. The rerun show was called the Scary Scooby Funnies, which were the comical shorts from the 1980 year.

The New Scooby Doo Mysteries was nothing more than a mere continuation of the previous show, the New Scooby and Scrappy Doo show, only this time, Scooby now has solo billing on his show, which he hadn't had since the 1970's. Again, this show is a two episode a week series and some of them are 2 parters that make up a half hour story. Just like the previous season. Oh joy (sarcasm in my voice). And like before, Daphne Blake is a magazine reporter and Shaggy Rogers, and Scooby and Scrappy Doo are her assistants. Oh joy. (more sarcasm) and like before, they are solving mysteries and dealing with ghosts and villains. Oh joy (more sarcasm).

BUT this time there are two new changes that I loved. One was the animation that they used in most of this series. It looked really good and I don't know what it is, but most of this series used it except for the first four episodes.

The other change was that the two part episodes had a real treat for purist fans. After a long, four year absence from newer shows, Freddy and Velma are back in guest starring roles. They showed up only in the 2 parters and like Daphne, they have careers and last names now. Velma Dinkly is now a scientist with NASA Space Program. (Naturally) and my favorite character Freddy Jones was now a mystery writer and surprisingly wound up being a suspect in the Birthday episode with a villain called the Red Skull. But that episode, the Ghosts of the Ancient Astronauts, the Halloween episode, the one at the White House, the Mystery Solving Contest in London, and the Christmas episodes to me were the best in this season because of the inclusion of Freddy and Velma or at least one of them and reuniting the whole gang.

So I guess the New Scooby Doo Mysteries is an improvement over the previous series, but only with those 6 episodes. Too bad that the Scooby Doo show got trashed in the following year with an awful monstrosity.

Great Opening....

But that's all I can say!

This would have been a good show if the jokes and plots were better then they were. But regardless the biggest flaw of this show is of course SCAPPY-DOO!

Good Scooby-Doo series!
Movie Nuttball15 July 2005
When this show was on I watched it every time I could! I thought that the characters were really funny and all had great personalities. The animation in My opinion was crisp, clean, and really clear. Not to mention beautiful! Most of the characters in this show are like the hilarious Looney Tunes characters that we all love. in My opinion these characters are the funnies and talented ever seen. In fact, The things that goes on in this series' cartoons are in My opinion nuts which that is what makes them hilarious! There are so many to like and laugh at and the silly things they do! If you like the original Looney Tunes then I strongly recommend that you watch this show!
