A scene between Tony Manero and his dad was cut from the film. Karen Lynn Gorney was going to play the same role she played in the original, but those plans were cancelled.
Just like for the original, star John Travolta underwent extensive physical training for the role. The training was supervised by director Sylvester Stallone.
