A long-lost live recording featuring one of John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy’s 1961 sets at New York’s Village Gate has been unearthed for release this summer.
Evenings at the Village Gate, out July 14 via Impulse! Records, was recorded in the summer before Coltrane’s legendary slate of Nov. 1961 dates at the Village Vanguard, with a similar quintet lineup: The short-lived tandem of Coltrane and Dolphy alongside drummer Elvin Jones, pianist McCoy Tyner, and bassist Reggie Workman.

Event chair and host Barbara Davis and co-chair Dana Davis announced today that legendary actor Diane Keaton will be honored with the “Brass Ring Award” at the 36th Carousel of Hope Ball on Saturday, October 8 at The Beverly Hilton hotel.
Presented by Dexcom, the biennial event will return in-person this year and bring together film, television, music and business industries to support increasing awareness for diabetes, and raise funds for clinical care and diabetes research at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.
“We are looking forward to hosting another sensational event, in person, and bringing together our Carousel of Hope family to raise awareness and funds to fight this life-altering disease,” said event chair and host Barbara Davis. “We could not be more proud to commemorate more than 40 years of the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, and the revolutionary work that has been done and continues to be done in research and clinical care.

That all got wrapped up far too neatly.
Anson Wix's grand plan came unraveled too far quickly on CSI: Vegas Season 1 Episode 10.
That's somewhat understandable. CSI: Vegas was billed as a limited series, and CBS hasn't announced a renewal for another season. And nothing annoys viewers more than a cancellation following a cliffhanger.
But it had been hinted throughout the season that there was something more to this conspiracy framing David Hodges than just one greedy lawyer with a grudge.
And, in the end, there's wasn't. So that whole storyline now feels a little lacking.
There was no former villain seeking revenge or some criminal mastermind trying to bring down the Crime Lab. Today's viewers expect complexity, and this wasn't that.
Instead, it was simply a textbook example of how to follow the evidence, step by step by step. You could view that as vintage CSI or you could look...

No doubt the brilliantly titled Dog Don’t Wear Pants may be perceived by some as the type of pseudo-provocative, Tinto Brass helmed bondage brouhaha which used to be deplored by Mary Whitehouse and released on VHS through the Redemption video label in the 1990s. But co-writer/director J-p Valkeapaa’s second feature is biting, spicy and electrifying film-making, melding Cronenberg, Roeg and Gaspar Noé into a dark, dreamy psychosexual drama that twists nerves, probes psyches, quickens pulses and tickles fancies with a glint in its eye, sting in its tail and sceptic, studded tongue in gullet.
The story centres on middle-aged surgeon Juha (Pekka Strang) and his teenage daughter Elli (Ilona Huta). A decade after the tragic death of Juha’s wife, he is still suffering from his grief/loss and unable to move on. That is until the day Juha stumbles upon the dungeon of dominatrix Mona (Krista Konsonen). After their first,...

Timothy West
British TV veteran Timothy West is set to join the cast of Eastenders. The star of Brass recently got a taste for soap operas during a brief stint in ITV’s Coronation Street. West will be joined onscreen by Annette Badland (Doctor Who). The duo will play the Aunt and Uncle of the Queen Vic’s new landlord who is to be played by another newcomer — Danny Dyer. BBC chiefs hope the new additions will revive the ailing show after a series of unpopular storylines and cast departures saw ratings tumble. Meanwhile, the BBC have released a new trailer for the Christmas episode of the show.
