David and his dope
the_green_lizard2 January 2006
The oldest kid in the family, David gets hooked to dope when he is sixteen. David is a bright boy and lives in a peaceful family. He plays sport and does well in school but then things start to change...

David life flushes by like a dream. He gets illusions and he quits school. David drug addiction tears the family apart. His mother Len tries everything within her power to get her son off the drugs. Eventually David is treated in the hospital. It is a story about love and helplessness where you can feel the misery of David's life running into an ordinary family. The title the mother of David S. is choosing to articulate the fact the drugs addicts neglect not only themselves but their mothers as well.

The movie is a typical dutch eighties story where the tensions grow slowly and where everything breaks down as soon as the family finds out what David isn't doing anymore, as what is is supposed to do... A great psychological tragic! David is the substitute for a Basketball Diaries without Leonardo!
