| Until 1997 MCA/Universal Home Video always said that this version of The Blues Brothers (1980) is the only version that will ever be released. 'John Landis' tried to do an extended Director's Cut of the movie for a special edition, making it widescreen and so forth. After several years (Blues Brothers was out of print for 7 years) the battle between Landis and MCA ended. The winner is obvious. In 23 February 1996 'John Landis' spoke at Texas A&M University. He said a director's cut of The Blues Brothers (1980) is very unlikely as the additional 17 minutes he would add were destroyed by Universal in 1985. The footage included another musical number and Jake in a shaving cream factory. Landis mentioned the cuts were made to shorten the running time. Obviously the additional footage was not destoyed after all, as in July 1998 MCA announced that a new Laserdisc with the director's cut will be released on 8 September 1998. |

| This title is transcoded from NTSC to PAL with a very stupid algorythm, which skips frames once every second. Looks quite bad. The analog sound is fairly good. The cover states that it is stereo, but it is in fact mono. |
