Veteran actor Jimmy Edwards was originally cast as Dodger, but his alcoholism rendered him incapable of performing. After wasting a whole morning's shooting time trying to sober him up enough to film his scenes, director/producer Stanley Long decided to release Edwards from him contract and hire Willie Ruston to replace him. Stills from the aborted shoot appear as extras on DVD & blu-ray releases.
