• Sheriff Duke : [a tiresome Duke enters his office to see C.J. sitting at his desk]  Hello, Duke. Looks to me like you had a hard day.

  Sheriff Duke : Well, as a matter of fact, C.J., I DID have a hard day. What the hell's on your mind?

  C.J. Crane : I always had high hopes for you, Duke, but you just could never cut it.

  Sheriff Duke : Yeah? Well, maybe that's because I didn't kiss your ass and I'm going to tell you something else, C.J.. I'm gonna get Poke Jackson and I'm gonna get him in my own way and, this time, I don't want no meddling from you! Now, get your fat ass out of my chair.

  C.J. Crane : You're through, Duke.

  Sheriff Duke : [smiles]  Well, I'll tell you something, C.J.. If I go down, you're gonna go with me.

  C.J. Crane : How do you figure that? I got so much trust from others you can't even see and I'm gonna tell you something that you could never seem to get through that thick head of yours. I always kept my fences mended and my tracks covered. Now, who do you think they'll believe, some piss-ant sheriff or C.J. Crane?

  [as C.J. exits the office, an upset Duke slumps down on his chair] 

• Lenny : [as they chase Bull Parker's truck]  Who the hell we chasing, Duke?

  Sheriff Duke : Looks like old Bull Parker's truck to me and you know who the hell he's kin to. I tell you something, Lenny. I should have busted that old son of a bitch's head, when we got him out there with that still. I should have done it, but you can't be nice to people, boy! Don't you ever forget that in life! You can't be nice to them!
