The Brandon family and the unwanted aunts assemble for Auntie Edna's funeral. After 25 years of marriage Annie wants Les to take her on a second honeymoon. Carter's girlfriend Pat decides it's time they got engaged.
Now Uncle Mort has moved into the Brandon home, Carter and Pat want to have use of his old one. Barmaid Linda Preston sets her sights on Carter. With their engagement soon to be announced the Brandons visit Pat's mother.
Auntie Lil arrives with a collection junk she plans to hand out, as gifts, following her husband Bob's death. Lil then treats the Brandons to an afternoon at a Temperance Bar which doesn't go down too well.
Auntie Lil gathers everybody together to read her Will. The Brandons get ready for the Works Dance but Carter is heading for trouble after agreeing to meet Linda Preston. Pat calls off their engagement when she catches them dancing.
Carter is lost for words when confronted by Pat. Annie and Auntie Lil are so shocked they take to their bed. Pat and Mrs Partington visit the Brandon's house to hatch a plan for the couple to reunite.
The three Great Aunts arrive, unwanted, from Glossop with strong opinions about Les and Annie's 25th anniversary. They want Annie to leave Les and he should move in with them so he can prepare for his death surrounded by religion.
Tired of waiting for her wedding day, Pat wants to elope. Uncle Mort and Auntie Lil are at loggerheads. A disheveled Les returns home after hiding at Mort's allotment. Annie returns from, her holiday alone, with another man.
