Sex & Nudity

  • In (at least) one instance, quite early on, where Laura Ingalls is bathing in a barrel outside their house, her bare chest can be fully seen as she raises up to greet her father walking by.
  • Episodes during the series run contain shirtless male(s).
  • A baby boy is seen wearing only a cloth diaper while laying face down in his crib.
  • Men and some Children can be seen wearing long johns throughout the series.
  • There is some (very little) romantic flirting and kissing.
  • In one episode, the girls are swimming, bare shoulders is the only skin that is shown.

Violence & Gore

  • There are Numerous Fights through out the Series with Various Degrees.
  • Set in the American west, so there are occasions of guns being used in hunting situations and sometimes in defense.
  • A few gunshots where blood is shown on clothing.
  • Some situations of prejudice which involve a Native American getting shot.
  • An episode when a character gets a severely infected leg may be a little tough for some people.
  • An episode covers a plague of typhus. This contains some moderate gore.
  • One episode contains a sexual assault. nothing is actually shown, but the lead up is filmed like an 1980s horror movie. The assaulter is wearing a harlequin mask and is quite creepy. There are several stalking-like moments in this episode too.

Profanity

  • There are some instances of racially-insensitive language, including (very rarely) the n-word.
  • The 'N' Word is Used Quit often through out the Series.
  • Nothing worse than "hell" and "damn" or its variations.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Occasionally, episodes contain people with drinking problems - namely whiskey.
  • Two episodes cover the issue of drug abuse; like addiction to morphine.
  • Charles smokes a pipe fairly regularly in early seasons.
  • Occasional (very rarely), rolled up cigarettes are smoked by minor characters.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are many fights that happen some worse than others
  • There are scenes which focus on grave danger. These can be intense.

  • In season-seven episode concerning rape and teenage pregnancy but no nudity or actual sex is ever shown.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In much of season 5 they were in Winoka. The Ingalls family worked and lived next to a saloon with drinking and gambling.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A boy dressed as a werewolf threatens to squash another boy with an 8 ft Boulder held above his head
  • Season 6, Episode 18
  • At the end of the show, the entire town is blown up.
