If you wish more horror films came with onomatopoetic titles, I’ve got the movie for you.
When Kevin Smith released his now -notorious horror comedy Tusk, many reviewers took issue with the ludicrous premise in which a mad scientist takes it upon himself to transform a man into a walrus. Apparently none of these critics had ever seen Bernard L. Kowalski’s 1973 horror film Sssssss—new to Blu-ray from Scream Factory—because if they had, they might have recognized that the premise of Smith’s movie had been covered nearly 30 years earlier, only with a snake instead of a walrus. It is, to put it bluntly, not a very good movie. But it is a weird one, and sometimes “weird” counts.

There aren’t a lot of horror and sci-fi titles arriving on Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday (there are four, to be exact), but the few we do have to look forward to are an eclectic and entertaining bunch nonetheless. Scream Factory is giving HD overhauls to both Death Becomes Her and the cult classic Sssssss this week, and Christmas is coming a bit early this year by way of Michael Dougherty’s Krampus, which hits Blu-ray and DVD on April 26th. Our last release for this week is a pair of 1970s underground classics, Crypt of the Living Dead and House of the Living Dead, which arrive together on DVD courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome.

From spaceman to Faceman, Dirk Benedict has become one of television's top icons.
Viewers sat riveted week-after-week as Lieutenant Starbuck hurtled through the stars in Battlestar Galactica and Templeton 'Faceman' Peck fought his way from one mission to the next on The A-Team.
Now his adventures will continue - more along the lines of his Starbuck days - in the new comic book Dirk Benedict in the 25th Century.
The story sees Dirk signing autographs at a convention when a mysterious scientist appears, transporting him to Earth's far-flung future, where he discovers he is mankind's only hope against an oppressive computer and its robot army.
"I have been on Broadway, in the movies and on TV, but being Dirk Benedict in the 25th Century beats them all," said Dirk. "Not only will I be forever young - without surgery - but I can smoke my beloved fumerellos, un-heckled, throughout the universe.

Horror fanatics are still buzzing like chainsaws over the Academy Awards’ genre montage. Anywhere there could be a conversation about it online, there was one. Many were upset over the Twilight ‘tweens’ participation, as if their mere presence sent a message about the state of scary in Hollyweird, USA.
A few seemed happy, though, to just get a glimpse of their beloved Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 if only for a few seconds. But many called the selections generic and thoughtless, demanding the likes of Demons and TerrorVision instead (well, maybe not TerrorVision; that was just me).
How about Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer? Re-Animator? It’s Alive? Tombs of the Blind Dead? Coffin Joe? No list is perfect, but with a bit more care and a phone call to any one of us, the Oscars could have elevated that section into a real scream. Or maybe they...
