Sex & Nudity

  • A woman's bare breasts are seen for an extended period of time while she is changing. We briefly see her pubic hair during and we see her bare buttocks.
  • A drawing of a totally naked woman is shown in the entrance of a strip club. It is a draw and it isn't too explicit, it only appears for some seconds and it is very easy to miss.
  • Women's breasts are often on screen.
  • Scenes that are in a strip club contain female nudity.
  • A few shots of topless dancers with pasties and very revealing underwear during a scene at a club.

Violence & Gore

  • A car accident happens onscreen and the passengers leave the car covered in blood.
  • A man seemingly self-harms by putting his hand in a flame as a way to punish himself for his sins.
  • Many fistfights throughout with not much blood, with most of the violence being towards the end of the movie, including a person getting shot in the neck and another in the hand (blood shown), as well as a bloody car crash (overall, not as violent as many of Scorsese's other movies like Goodfellas or Casino).
  • Hand to hand fights throughout (sometimes rather comedic) with no serious injuries resulting.

Profanity

  • This film uses profanity frequently, including 49 uses of "fuck". 1 use of "cunt"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man is seen injecting heroin into his arm at the beginning of the film.
  • Several characters are shown drinking and/or drunk.
  • Characters sometimes smoke.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman with epilepsy has a seizure on screen which can be upsetting.
  • The film is not somewhat depressing. It's more of a hangout movie, directed by Scorsese about gangsters. It's a funny film at times.
  • Out of all Scorsese mob films such as Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York, The Departed, and The Irishman. This is the tamest and the least graphic film.
  • Not a very intense movie but the overall tone of it is somewhat depressing.
  • Some scenes are upsetting

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shot dead in a bar bathroom but he manages to attack his shooter before he dies (no blood).
  • In a flashback sequence, a man shoots himself in the mouth with a revolver. However, the scene fades to white as he is pulling the trigger.
  • A man is shot in the chest and neck causing lots of blood to gush from the wounds.
