  • The Hotel used in the film for location shooting is the Claridges Hotel, Brighton. This hotel was also used for exterior shots in 'Carry On Girls (1973)' and is owned by actress Dora Bryan who appeared in the first Carry On...' film 'Carry on Sergeant (1958). Patsy Rowlands tells the story how when the casts' bus was on its way to Brighton, Charles Hawtrey said "You watch when we get to Brighton, Dora [Dora Bryan] will come running out of the hotel in her stilettos and greet as all." On arrival at the hotel this is exactly what happened.

  • Renee Houston was nearly recast in this film due to illness and that she needed to do several takes.

  • Contains one of the few emotive scenes found in the "Carry On..." films. The scene with Joan Sims and Sid James, in which they discuss marriage, was filmed on 29 April 1971 on location in Pinewood Housing Estate, near to Pinewood Studios.

  • Joan Sims's first day on the set was 29 March 1971, in her autobiography she explains that she was not keen on this film.

  • A whole scene with Terry Scott was deleted from the final print, although he was paid £500 for the day's shoot. The footage has long been destroyed and only stills remain.

  • The first "Carry On..." film to lose money at the box office and only made broke even in 1978 after distribution rights and television deals.

  • Bill Maynard was commuting from Wolverhampton to Pinewood studios for filming. He was appearing in "The Ghost Train", written by 'Arnold Ridley (I)', on stage at the time

  • Jacki Piper would help Renee Houston put tape between the back of her ears in order to give her a slight face-lift for filming.

  • Agatha Spanners' and Mrs Spragg's house was located on the Pinewood back lot.

  • In the scene on the motorcycle Bernard Bresslaw took 14 takes to get the scene correct.

  • Bill Pertwee appeared as the nightclub owner but his scenes were cut from the final film. The nightclub scene was filmed on 22 March 1971.

  • The car that Sid Plumber buys himself after he starts winning on the horses to replace his decrepit looking Ford 100E, is a 1971 Morris Marina 1.3 Deluxe Coupe in Harvest Gold, which is especially notable by the fact that the Marina was a brand new model in 1971 and the car in the film was one of the very first.
