Storyline
Sir Guy Grand adopts homeless bum Youngman to be heir to his obscene wealth, and immediately begins bringing him into the intricacies of the family business, which is to prey upon people's greed by use of the vast holdings of the Grand empire. They leave no stone unturned as sporting events, restaurants, art galleries, and traditional pheasant hunts turn into lurid displays of bad manners and profiteering. The role of Youngman Grand was originally offered to John Lennon, who was tempted to perform the role but eventually had to decline due to legal difficulties related to his October, 1968 arrest for possession of marijuana. Lennon's Beatles band mate Ringo Starr - who was hoping to pursue a career as an actor after having received favorable reviews for his performance in the 1964 Beatles film A Hard Day's Night - stepped into the role intended for Lennon.
