"Your Friendly Tax Collectors"
ccthemovieman-113 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
It's the days of knights and castles and immediately we see this fantastic castle surrounded by a moat. Two snarling knights with lances come riding out with banners that say, "Your Friendly Tax Collectors" smashing some poor little guy. They actually are the henchman for the tax collector, who is a little guy. He goes to two houses and takes everything the poor peasants have. At the third house, the guy can't buy so he's thrown into a dungeon.

The Pink Panther, complete with Robin Hood hat, is nearby observing all of this. Our goodhearted hero then writes not, makes a paper airplane out of it and sails it through the jail window bars. Unfortunately, the paper plane sails through the jail and out the little window in the jail door. The guard sees it, reads the Panther's note which says, "Don't worry! Will rescue you at 2 o'clock. Signed, The Merryman."

What trouble is the Panther in for now? Plenty, and the same with the guy in the jail already. This guard is not stupid. The battle between guard and prisoners is very funny at first, but the ending involves kind of a dumb chase scene, not the clever stuff in the first two-thirds of the animated short. Still, in all, it's humorous and recommended and at the very end is a clever twist involving the real Robin Hood.

Two-thirds great, one third not quite so much
TheLittleSongbird6 October 2013
Not one of Pinky's best, still entertaining, even with a somewhat routine story and a final third(apart from the clever ending touch) that got too silly(could have been much funnier if paced a little less hectically and not reading of one big dumb chase sequence, which is how it turned out). The animation is bright and elegant, while maintaining the minimal simplicity that has always been part of the Pink Panther cartoons' charm. The jazzy scoring also appeals as is the theme tune, as said so many times one of those theme tunes that you can't get enough of even when heard so many times you lose count. The pace is generally brisk while not too rushed and for the first two thirds of Pinkcome Tax the gags are clever and a joy to watch really. All in all, a very good cartoon, if it weren't for the ever so slightly lacking final third it would have been a great one. 8/10 Bethany Cox

This picture is must-see viewing amid a week in which . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . America's disgraced previous Oval Office Occupant suffers the shame of having his mendacious "Zero Revenue Paid" income tax returns released for all the world to see. During PINK-COME TAX, the government's appropriate response to such tax cheats is minutely examined and explicated. A thorough thrashing is the first order of business for those who have practiced "The Art of the Steal." Money misers and penniless losers alike need to sustain multiple concussions to teach them a lesson that they'll never forget. Next comes the "burp walk," when all their friends and relatives, along with casual passers-by, can snicker as fraudulent broke blokes are frog-marched--or, in extreme case, dragged--to a high-security federal dungeon. Finally, after rounds of torture such as a dunk in the alligator pit and nestling inside an iron maiden, PINK-COME TAX suggests that malingering miscreants flouting the Common Good ought to be Guillotined.

Now that the Holiday Season is in full swing . . .

. . . this picture reminds viewers that it is more blessed to give than to receive. This film documents how those that give are left free to live another day, while the stingiest among us risk winding up in high dungeon--or worse. So if you see a geezer tottering along from trash can to trash can, in desperate search of cans or bottles he can redeem for a state deposit refund, why not roll down the window of your SUV, and slip him any bills you can spare? This sort of charity begins at home, cutting out the government's middle men. Such direct gifting is far more efficient than massive federal handout programs, and involves a lot less red tape.

A taxing cartoon!
OllieSuave-00727 September 2016
The Pink Panther takes on the role of a poor man's friend in Medieval England, as it is tax season and the government is out collecting tax from poor citizens, including the pointy-nosed man. When he couldn't pay his share, he gets incarcerated. Therefore, the Pink Panther plans to rescue him - resulting in one failed attempt after the other.

After some foiled attempts, running around and even stumbling in an alligator pit, it appeared that the Pink Panther and the Pointy-Nosed Man got the upper hand but were both captured in the end; not even Robin Hood could pull off a rescue.

Some laughs and comedy at first, but a bummer ending, especially for a cartoon.
