The opening card - along with a logo similar to Venice Festival's Golden Lion - reads, "Leon d'Oro al Festival della Risata", literally, golden lion of the laughing festival. From the start, even the film's title, the director establishes it as a parody of the previous' year Golden Lion winner Belle de Jour (1967).
