In one scene the radio operator, Pvt. Grenier (James Mitchum), on the 2-way radio uses the expression, "I read you five-by-five..." This was WWII military radio parlance wherein the first number represented the signal strength of a radio communication, and the second number represented the signal clarity on a scale from 1-5 -1 being the worst; 5 being the best. So, what he is saying essentially means, "I read you loud and clear."
