The famous "Life" magazine double issue devoted to films contained a fold-out cover showing studio technicians silhouetted against a blue background. This was Eiji Tsuburaya's special effects crew preparing a blue screen shot of Toshirô Mifune for this film.
In the United States, this film was picked up by American International Pictures, re-titled "The Lost World of Sinbad" (its original U.S. title for AIP had been "Samurai Pirate") and released as the top half of a pre-packaged double feature with another foreign negative pickup, Giuseppe Vari's film "War of the Zombies."
