To any of the uninitiated, Voodoo Six are one of the primest cuts of modern hard rock, providing the ultimate sustenance to any and all who feel they’ve gone without a battering-ram-sized riff or throaty foam-topped vocal-line rammed down their throat for too long.
“We just have fun”, twin-lead guitarist Matt Pearce tells me before the gig, as the attitude within the Voodoo camp is that of righteous good times and a workingman’s attitude. Having just come off one hell of a summer touring with none other than Iron Maiden, there are a few humorous things that stick out as comparisons between flying around with one of the biggest bands in the world, and then trundling back up the M1 in a van.
“We always enjoy these kinds of shows, we’re big fans of these kinds of shows. But the [Iron Maiden] scale is huge” says drummer Joe Lazarus.

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1

After the well-done but under-appreciated take DC Comics did on the classic heroes from Tower Comics, I was pleased, but rather surprised that a new company had secured the rights to them so quickly. Even more pleased that it was Idw, who’s been tearing up the landscape with both exemplary and licensed titles.
The new title does the one thing I suspected they’d have to do – they started over. It takes place in a new history, where NoMan and Lightning are in action, but no other members. There’s experimentation going on in the background of issue 1 for the technology for the Undersea Agent, and dozens of candidates have tried and failed to wear the Thunderbelt. Kate “Kitten” Kane is in charge of T.H.U.N.D.E.R.

Bruce Dickinson has been awarded an honorary degree for services to music. The Iron Maiden frontman received his Honorary Doctorate Of Music at London's Queen Mary University on Tuesday. He studied history for a short period at the college in 1979. The singer said that he went to university to please his parents, but was able to turn it to his advantage. "That was what [my parents] wanted to hear so that was my cover story," he said. "When I got down there, I started immediately finding and playing in bands." Dickinson (more)...

Known for his exceptional make-up effects work in the Frank Henenlotter films Brain Damage and Basket Case 2, Gabe Bartalos has gone on to have one of the most distinguished careers in the pantheon of latex slingers. He has branched out to the role of director [Skinned Deep], producer [The Mercy Man], and he is the head honcho of his own effects house [Atlantic West Effects].
Being the reflective kind of guy I am, I wanted to chat it up with Gabe about a motion picture that is collecting dust in some studio vault just waiting to be rediscovered. Like a genie in a bottle, it lays idle waiting for someone to rub it the right way and let it loose so everyone can see the best genre picture involving a djinn [sorry, Wishmaster] ever made.
Gabe and I pulled up a chair at his shop for a geek-out about The Lamp, and I tell you it was the coolest...

Basement UK ArtDirector: Asham Kamboj.
Writer: Ewen Glass.
After watching director Asham Kamboj's Basement, this reviewer now knows what medieval times were like, when subjects would protest the king. The iron maiden or the rack would almost be a better alternative to watching this seventy-six minute film drone on about nothing in particular. Yet, the show must go on.
Paperknife Productions is the creator behind Basement and this is their only production. If they were relying on this film for profits, then this newly created cynic can see bankruptcy in this company's future. Revolver Entertainment UK, which is known for better film fare like Dead Man Running, Jcvd and the upcoming Iron Sky made a misstep here, by distributing this truly farcical cinema. This film launched in the UK August 23rd on DVD and Blu-Ray, after a brief showing in theatres August 20th. Much like an unfinished basement, this...

Bruce Dickinson has criticised the price of concert tickets. The Iron Maiden frontman insisted that fans 'deserve reasonable prices'. The star told Sky News: "It's a massive commitment to come and see a band. "They deserve not just a great show, but reasonable ticket prices. It's just not right, you know - it's a rock 'n' roll show, it's not a cash cow." The band's (more)...

Update:Oh dear.I like to keep my ear to the ground concerning my internet activity, so my tracing back to the Forces of Geek story (linked below) has brought an interesting "fact" out of the woodwork. This fact comes paired with an accusation and now I must twiddle my thumbs and decide how much trouble I want to get in...Hmmmmmmmmm. (Thumb twiddling).Ok. I'll say this: I have reason to believe that the rumor concerning Olivia Munn as The Wasp is not only 100% untrue but was never based on any real information.Considering the story below is more about just how unlikely the story I'm "reporting" on is, I feel there is still some merit to the discussion of how/why Munn as The Wasp would say more about Marvel and their universe of films than it does about Munn or even Iron Man 2, specifically. I'm just not...

We have known for quite sometime that Olivia Munn was going to have a cameo in Iron Man 2. That cameo apparently was going be the voice for the “Jarvis” computer that is used by War Machine. It seems however in editing minds changed and she was called back in to film an actual scene.
Now, both Marvel Studios and Munn have been fairly secretive regarding what new role she would be portraying (previous internet rumors have included The Iron Maiden and The Scarlett Witch), but there’s no confirmation to anything other than she was cast as one part, during post production the tone of the film became darker, and she was recast in a different part.
In an interview in Complex Magazine, Munn said she was playing an already established Marvel character.
