Acclaimed Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon on Wednesday thanked volunteers and the Young Drukpa Association for planting over 100,000 saplings in Ladakh this month, saying “what an accomplishment.”
“Thank you for planting hope,” she said in a video message to the non-profit humanitarian group, Live to Love International.
The humanitarian group serves the people and region of the Himalayas in becoming resilient.
After the devastating quake in Nepal in 2015 and the aftershocks, Sarandon stayed with the famed Kung Fu nuns from the Druk Amitabha Mountain nunnery, established by the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, spiritual head of over 1,000-year-old Drukpa Order, located uphill Kathmandu and worked with them to offer medical services and acting as role model of women empowerment.
Lt. Governor Ladakh, Brig (retd) B.D. Mishra on May 17 officially launched the ‘Trees for Life’ campaign in Liktsey.

The Malaysia-born Oscar winner, who has become the first Asian woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her multifaceted performance, survived the deadly earthquake that struck Nepal while she was visiting the landlocked Himalayan nation in April 2015. Survivor of the devastating earthquake, actress Michelle Yeoh, famous for her roles in James Bond film ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ and ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’, has won the Academy Award for Best Actress and made history for her role in ‘Everything, Everywhere All At Once’.
Michelle Yeoh has an India connect too. In the ‘background’ of her life is Buddhist leader Gyalwang Drukpa, the spiritual head of the Drukpa Order based in India with over 1,000 monasteries across the Himalayas.
A disciple of His Holiness, in 2015, Michelle raised charity from Hollywood for Nepal earthquake victims on the advice of Gyalwang Drukpa for his ‘Live to Love’ foundation.

Heralding an October 10th release, here is the official trailer for The Devil's Hand, formerly known as Where the Devil Hides. This is our first look at the film which has been on the shelf for a bit.
Christian E. Christiansen (The Roommate) directs; Rufus Sewell and Jennifer Carpenter star.
Roadside Attractions was said to handle the release, but this trailer debuted at the Lionsgate VOD YouTube page, so I'm guessing it's going to get a day-and-date release.

Announced all the way back in the grindhouse revival heyday of 2008, this multi-part action game is coming to current-gen consoles and the PC on June 25 from "Dead Island" publisher Deep Silver.
"Ride to Hell: Retribution" follows protagonist Jake Conway as he doles out revenge against the villainous bikers of The Devil's Hand. Everything about the game's presentation in this trailer speaks to that narrow window of time five years ago where some of us thought the 70's-style blood and guts movie aesthetic might be a thing (until "Grindhouse" died a quick death theatrically and every also-ran filmmaker tried to ape the effort).
"Retribution" is part of a multi-release strategy that would see a digital spinoff, "Ride to Hell: Route 666" come to Xbox Live, Psn, and Steam. That game would have players recruiting other bikers and attempting to seize control of swaths of Route 66. Meanwhile, the brawler "Ride to Hell: Beatdown" is coming to mobile.

B-movie actor who could lay claim to having been the first Bond girl
The phrase "famous for being famous" could have been invented for Linda Christian, who has died aged 87. Her celebrity came from her marriages to the handsome film stars Tyrone Power and Edmund Purdom, and her liaisons with various wealthy playboys and bullfighters, rather than her somewhat limited acting ability.
Christian's extravagant, cosmopolitan lifestyle derived from her stunning beauty – she was dubbed "The Anatomic Bomb" by Life magazine – and her ability to speak fluent French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and English. She was born Blanca Rosa Welter in Tampico, Mexico, the daughter of a Dutch executive at Shell, and his Mexican-born wife of Spanish, German and French descent. As the family moved around a great deal, living in South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, she gained a taste for globetrotting.

Linda Christian, international actress and Tyrone Power's second wife, died Friday (July 22) in Palm Springs, California. Christian, who was 87, had been suffering from colon cancer. Linda Christian was born Blanca Rosa Henrietta Stella Welter Vorhauer on November 13, 1923, in Tampico, Mexico, to a Dutch oil executive and his German-Mexican wife. As a young girl, she traveled the world with her parents, according to reports eventually becoming fluent in seven languages. Discovered by Errol Flynn while in Acapulco, Christian moved to Los Angeles where she began her film career in bit parts in Hollywood movies of the mid-1940s. Labeled "The Anatomic Bomb" by Life magazine, Christian eventually progressed to supporting roles in a handful of productions, among them Robert Florey's Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948) and Richard Fleischer's The Happy Time (1952). Leading roles, however, eluded her, while a reported seven-year MGM contract led nowhere. Though the first Bond girl...
