• Continuity: At the beginning of the movie, Cpl. Allison's raft nears the island. He slowly looks over the edge of the raft and sees the island, his hair quite disheveled. Then it cuts to a shot from behind him and his hair is matted down (possibly wet from a previous take of when he jumped in the water).
  
  
• Anachronisms: Robert Mitchum is shown throughout the movie wearing a metal expansion bracelet for his wristwatch. Such bracelets were introduced by Speidel in the 1950s.
  
  
• Continuity: When the Japanese soldier returns to bottle of sake to the sack of rice, the bottle is almost empty, or about one quarter full. But when Sister Angela later finds the bottle in the rice sack, the bottle is almost full.
