The title of the movie is shown on the marquee of a movie theater on the left side of the screen as start credits roll on the background of a city street.
When Arch Hammer first leaves his hotel room, he passes several neon signs, plus a placard advertising "Skylight Room Presents Buck Winston--Opening Tonight." Buck Winston is the singing cowboy character from "The Women" (1939) and its musical remake "The Opposite Sex" (1956). Buck Winston is not seen in "The Women," but the photo on the placard resembles Jeff Richards, who played the character in "The Opposite Sex," where Buck Winston does perform for at least one night at a club called The Skylight Room.
