FAQ
The wife of Stabuck, seen at church and at the pier, looks like Dorothy McGuire. Given the close friendship with Gregory Peck is it possible that she made an uncredited cameo?
No one has answered this question yet.
Edit
were actual whales harpooned and killed in the footage that appears to be from actual whaling hunts
Yes. Director John Huston commissioned the filming of a REAL whale hunt off Madeira and used the bloody scenes in his 1956 movie.
Edit
The film does not look like other Technicolor films. Why is that?
At the time the movie first came out, the professional reviews prominently mentioned that John Huston insisted on a special color process consisting of having a black and white image as well as the three images of standard Technicolor superimposed.
