Enjoyable enough, though the ladies in this one have a tendency to overact.

"To Dorothy, a Son" is a good movie that is pleasant viewing. However, be forewarned that the ladies in this film have a tendency to overact and the director did nothing to effectively deal with this.

When the story begins, Myrtle (Shelley Winters) learns that her rich uncle has died. He's left her a lot of money but with a strange codicil....that if her husband (in this case, her ex-husband) has a boy, he'll get the money. Well, this husband is remarried...and his wife (Peggy Cummins) is VERY pregnant...and Myrtle is worried she'll have a boy.

The plot is very contrived and at times Peggy and Shelley overact terribly. Still, despite these things, the story is cute and enjoyable. Worth seeing provided you don't think too much as you watch it.

A Fun Delightful Movie

I am a huge fan of Shelley Winters and I must say I really enjoyed this movie "To Dorothy A Son". It is a fun delightful movie and one of her best from the 1950's.Most of the movie takes place in England. Shelley Winters has to travel from New York City to England to find her EX-Husband.When she arrives in England the fun just begins. It is funny what she has to go through just to find him. When she finally finds him the fun only begins. You must watch for yourself to see how the movie plays out. If your a Shelley Winters fan you will truely enjoy this movie! Its a great classic movie in Black and White for the entire family to watch.
