  Saunders : It's very, very kind of you sir, but I'm afraid I've made up my mind. As a matter of fact I've chosen the lady I think might suit me and I'm interviewing her here today.

  Sir Gordon Blake : No!

  Saunders : Yes... er, if you'll excuse the liberty sir, I think women are all right in their proper place, and I intend to keep Mrs. Sanders in her proper place. I'll run your bath now sir.

  [Leaves] 

• Sir Gordon Blake : [Discussing their suitability for marriage]  Then I've got, er, of course, very definite ideas about women.

  Enid Lawson : What sort of ideas?

  Sir Gordon Blake : Rather feudal ideas I suppose you might think them. I mean ..,

  [gets cut off] 

  Enid Lawson : You mean you think that woman should be beaten, regularly and all that sort of thing?

  Sir Gordon Blake : Well, that's about it, yes. Why? Do you?

  Enid Lawson : If they deserve it, yes.

  Sir Gordon Blake : What I was to say was, I think women should be kept in their place.

  Enid Lawson : [Said very firmly]  So do I!

  Sir Gordon Blake : [Said in amazement]  You agree!

  Enid Lawson : But of course.

  Sir Gordon Blake : Well, the devil you do, and what is their place, according to you?

  Enid Lawson : Well, that's for you to say, naturally.
