The CBS Building in New York City.
Paramount Global has let go of nearly two dozen people at its CBS News division as part of a broader action involving layoffs across its company, according to a report.
On Tuesday, the New York Post’s Alexandra Steigrad said around 20 CBS News employees were among 800 workers to receive pink slips this week.
The affected journalists include award-winning correspondent Catherine Herridge, who is in the middle of a legal battle involving confidential sources she used for a story aired during her time at the Fox News Channel. Steigrad said Herridge was known to clash with CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews over some of her stories.
Jeff Pegues, a CBS News correspondent who was investigated by the network’s human resources department over certain alleged conduct involving colleagues, was also let go on Tuesday, the Post said, citing unnamed sources. Political correspondent Christina Ruffini...

ABC kicked off the post-strike return of its scripted series last week with the network’s three comedies, one of which, flagship Abbott Elementary, received an early Season 4 renewal just a couple of days later. Following his TCA session on Saturday and ahead of the rollout of ABC’s drama lineup next week, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich spoke with Deadline about the effects from the dual Hollywood strikes which are the reason the new seasons of the broadcast scripted series are premiering in midseason and the launch of most new scripted shows, including ABC’s High Potential, was pushed to 2024-25.
ABC has not ordered pilots this pilot season. Erwich, who oversees ABC Entertainment, Hulu Originals, Disney Branded Television and Freeform, addressed whether the network would do pilot or straight-to-series pickups this year for other shows to join Drew Goddard’s High Potential next season. Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week is a special Hidden Gems edition of the show featuring a lineup of matches never before seen on television! Let’s get into the review and see what went down…
Match #1: Samuray Del Sol def. Alan Angels The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
It was an X-Division showcase as Alan Angels went one-on-one with Samuray Del Sol in Chicago, which was the site of this year’s historic Bound For Glory event. Despite Angels’ efforts to rip off the mask of Del Sol, he was unable to vanquish the Luchador. Del Sol would connect with Salida del Sol off the top rope to score his first singles victory in Impact Wrestling.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Mk Ultra def. Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

(Welcome to Scariest Scene Ever, a column dedicated to the most pulse-pounding moments in horror with your tour guides, horror experts Chris Evangelista and Matt Donato. In this edition, Chris advises you to not cut your own face off while watching "Evil Dead" 2013.)
The idea of a remake of "The Evil Dead" seemed like a form of blasphemy at one point, but horror hounds appear to love Fede Álvarez's remake/reboot/reimagining/etc, the 2013 film "Evil Dead". Me? I'm somewhere in the middle. I love the nasty, gory, overwhelmingly bleak atmosphere Álvarez and company created for the film. However, a lot of the dialogue is so painfully bad that it takes me out of the movie on more than one occasion. I'm not saying I expected Shakespearian prose from "Evil Dead," but I know they could've done a lot better. No matter — the film is still plenty visceral and scary,...

Bengaluru, April 2 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in their first match of Ipl 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Sunday.
Rcb are playing their first match in their home ground after three years of absence and are coming into the competition on the back of making the playoffs in the last three seasons.
Mumbai, on the other hand, are coming after a bottom place finish in last year’s tournament.
After winning the toss, Faf said he, Michael Bracewell, Glenn Maxwell, and Reece Topley are the overseas players in Rcb playing eleven.
“There was a bit of dew when we practised. We have been so excited to get started tonight. This is one of the great stadiums to play cricket in,” he said.
“Our first goal is to make those playoffs, and follow the processes.

Wes Anderson’s new film, Asteroid City, may just feature his most stacked cast ever.
As previously reported, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, and Tilda Swinton are some of the big names featured in the film, along with Margot Robbie, Steve Carell, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, and Bryan Cranston. And that’s not even half of the cast.
Maya Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Hong Chau, Liev Schreiber, Matt Dillon, Stephen Park, Hope Davis, Rupert Friend, Tony Revolori, and Jake Ryan are also listed on the newly revealed poster (see below). One missing name is Bill Murray, who was originally cast in the film, but was replaced by Carell after contracting Covid-19 shortly before production was scheduled to begin.
Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The official logline reads as follows: “The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to...

Bengaluru, March 25 (Ians) Mike Hesson, the director of Cricket Operations at the Royal Challengers Bangalore, said he liked the Impact Player rule which will be introduced from Ipl 2023, adding that he thought the rule brings a little bit of intrigue to the tournament.
As per the Impact Player rule, all ten teams need to identify five substitutes who are Indian players apart from the playing eleven during toss time. Out of the substitutes named, only one player can be used as an Impact Player.
A team can bring an impact player before the start of the innings or after the completion of an over. In the case of a batter, the change can be done at the fall of the wicket or the batter retiring at any time during the over.
“I think we heard about the Impact Player before the auction so obviously, we looked at it and thought...

Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features eight matches this week. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir def. Sandra Moone and J-Rod
My Thoughts: Well this was an interesting surprise. I expected a squash but no, Rose and Shafir let their opponents put some work in and this came off as more competitive than even the patented Aew “quasi-squash”. Great start to this week’s show!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Brian Cage def. Rob McKnight
My Thoughts: Now This was a squash match! Everything Rob McKnight tried to do was totally no-sold by Cage, who eventually trapped McKnight in the King Kong Clutch for the win.
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #3: Juice Robinson def. Titus Alexander
My Thoughts: Much like the first match on this show,...

Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which this week features Fourteen matches, though we also get some of Aew’s bigger stars on the show, which makes up for the ridiculous amount of matches Imho. Anyway, on with the review…
Match #1: Action Andretti def. Tony Deppen
My Thoughts: Action Andretti continues his winning streak in this opening match, though why Deppen was allowed to get as much offence as he did – especially against the guy that beat Chris Jericho in his debut. Still, a great start to this week’s Dark.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Evil Uno def. J. Spade
My Thoughts: Evil Uno’s turning to the dark side continues… I sincerely hope this new vicious streak continues and we get a stronger, more dominant Dark Order too. Shame the audience wasn’t into this one though.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #3: Parker Boudreaux def.

New Delhi, Sep 21 (Ians) Former India wicketkeeper-batter and ex-member of the senior selection committee Saba Karim believes the impact player rule, to be introduced in domestic cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci), has the potential to throw up interesting possibilities which teams can cash upon in a particular match.
The Bcci is all set to introduce the Impact Player rule in the upcoming season through the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the men’s domestic T20 tournament, which is scheduled to begin from October 11.
As per the rules, each team will name four substitutes in the team sheets during the toss, and only one of them can be used as an Impact Player during the match. Both teams can use only one Impact Player and the move itself isn’t mandatory.

She completed the look with a pair of shiny Steve Madden heels on her feet, later revealed to be a glittery silver color when she appeared in the ring for the televised wrestling program.
To show off her dazzling look before that, Mickie shared an Instagram clip that included a filter and the...

Ahead of a huge championship opportunity, Mia Yim captivated fans with her latest image featuring a stunning bikini and a powerful pose.
The 33-year-old wrestling star stood with both hands on her hips, wearing a white bikini with cutouts on the top and bottoms revealing plenty of skin.
Mia also wore black boots, which had straps up to just below her knees, as part of the bold look while posing outdoors on what appeared to be the upper level or stairway for a residential complex.
Along with her short purple hair, she accessorized with a silver chain around her neck and a bracelet on one arm.
The Impact Wrestling star only used a clock or time emoji for her caption and a tag for the photographer Illite Fotos.
Illite Fotos is no stranger to shooting other wrestling stars.

In 2012, before he became an Imagine Entertainment screenwriter, Justin Calen-Chenn received his film education in a crappy hotel room. He’d already worked on a handful of short films, but he also had a life in the violent Los Angeles underworld that forced him to spend weeks hiding out. To pass the time, he read classic screenplays like “Midnight Cowboy” while eating Domino’s Pizza.
Four years later, a close friend suffered a brutal death and Calen-Chenn said that’s when everything changed. “I had the choice to continue to the top, or give it all up,” he said.
Calen-Chenn, who’s now 36, chose the latter. He and his creative partner Stephen “Dr” Love workshopped “The 99” as part of Imagine Impact, an intense, eight-week program that seeks unknown or underrepresented writers with unique stories and gets their projects ready for sale.

The new initiative will become a hub for groundbreaking sessions and events, and is being inaugurated by the Eave Impact One-to-one web series, in partnership with Cineuropa. Known for its broad approach to training methodologies based on sharing experience and expertise, Eave is once again breaking free from the confines of a single workshop. Eave Impact has become a new umbrella under which Eave will organise innovative sessions and events, including talks, think tanks and videos that are not strictly limited to its workshop programmes. To inaugurate this new initiative, Eave Impact, in collaboration with Cineuropa, is launching its second season of the One-to-one mini-web series of freestyle conversations with acclaimed film experts in order to analyse the industry and its future by breaking loose from the usual restraints. In the same spirit as the first season, which was launched last year to mark Eave’s 30th anniversary, this time,...
When WCW closed its doors all the way back in 2001 it was a huge day in the history of pro-wrestling. It was the day that the Big Two wrestling companies in the world became the Big One. WWE had survived the “Monday Night Wars” and the battle between Ted Turner’s WCW and Vince McMahon’s WWE had ended, leaving Vinnie Mac standing alone at the top of the heap, holding WCW in his hand like a dead badger. It was done.
And with the death of WCW and demise of smaller yet hugely influential promotion Ecw, WWE was without competition in the world of wrestling. I mean sure, WWE would still be competing with everything else on television, but as far as pro-wrestling companies… it was the last one standing, the biggest in the world with no other promotion coming anywhere close. It was the market. It was the pinnacle.

All Elite Wrestling's first PPV has arrived. Who won, who will be facing off for the title, and what surprises showed up?
All Elite Wrestling is the true x-factor of wrestling in 2019. The brainchild of Tony Khan, Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, the Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega, the promotion will soon be getting its own prime time slot on TNT. The first official show for the promotion will be the PPV event Aew Double or Nothing.
Of course, the September PPV All In deserves mention for being the prototype for Aew. Cody and the rest put together a big four-hour PPV with one-hour pre-show that brought in big names from the indies, as well as showcasing people from Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and even Impact. The show was a massive success and now they’re moving forward.
The future will show how everything pans out,...

Welcome back to our ongoing From VHS to VOD column – our guide through the strange and obscure – the odd, unseen and unreleased (well unreleased on disc formats) films available on streaming and on-demand services.
in the intro to our last installment I mentioned the explosion of obscure movies hitting Amazon Prime Video – available for streaming rather than purchase, some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form! So with that in mind I thought over the next few columns I’d take you through a few of the films I have lined up in my “To Watch” list… Some of which I still haven’t seen!
So sit back and check out what weird and wonderful films I’ve discovered in this edition of From VHS to VOD...

Welcome to the debut of The Last Week in Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. We’re combining the WWE Week In Review and the Nerdly Wrestling Awards into one weekly column that will perform the function of both. With Phil covering Raw, Smackdown and Impact, this will give me the chance to get all my stuff out in one sitting. I’ll give you my ratings for all of the matches before I give you my thoughts on the each league.
As for the Nerdly Wrestling Awards, that’s getting moved to just the end of the year and maybe we’ll have some goofy looking trophies to hand out then… to no one. Also, I apologize for all of my bad reviews last week… because they sucked. If you don’t remember, they were pretty much just obnoxious for the sake of being so. I liked the Wendy Williams eye joke,...

Welcome to this week’s Smackdown review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have… The Miz! Yeah, I know. Who cares? Actually, I like The Miz, but he doesn’t sell tickets, so it’s hard to get folks excited about a guy who isn’t a star. Oh, legendary film producer Gary Kurtz died. Kurtz worked with George Lucas all the way through The Empire Strikes Back and was very talented. Kurtz could be accused of being a bit too stubborn on many occasions, but he was passionate and seemed to be a good man. If The Miz had produced Star Wars, it would have just been him licking things for two hours. Let’s wrestle, Chico!

The following is the prediction column for this years Impact Slammiversary pay per view, which takes place this Sunday.
Match #1: Tessa Blanchard vs. Allie – Knockout’s Match
Pretend you have a crystal ball and you can look into the future. Who has a brighter life ahead of them in Impact Wrestling, Tessa Blanchard or Allie? We should get our answer when they clash Sunday at Slammiversary. Make no mistake about this match, it is very important. The winner will not earn a championship, but they might win much more if their hand is raised at the conclusion of this match.
Allie is a 2x Knockouts Champion, she found her way despite being different, despite being an outcast. Allie was nice. Nice doesn’t do much in wrestling. It is those who aren’t afraid to step on toes who usually succeed in our world. There is only room at...

I’m Nathan Favel and welcome to my first Impact Wrestling review for Nerdly. As I recently spoke of in my “Opinionated” column concerning the former Tna Wrestling, I have a genuine interest in seeing this company succeed, even if that is just as a good old wrestling fan. With the WWE being more stagnant than ever, it’s important to have another wrestling league survive and thrive. Featuring incredible action, even during the most dire straits that this promotion has ever seen, Tna/Impact has managed to build a unique legacy in professional wrestling that will never be duplicated, for better or for worse. It’s my pleasure to write these reviews for Impact. Let’s jump right into the action!

Disaster strikes a downtown skyscraper when a gas leak causes a ferocious explosion setting ablaze the towering mass of metal and glass. On the 60th floor Brianna (Forlani) and Tom (Bamber) a couple in the middle of a divorce settlement are forced to work together to help save their two children, Anne and Ben, who are both trapped in the building’s elevator hovering 20 stories above ground. Together Brianna and Tom must fight to stay alive while teaming up to save their children and escape the towering inferno.
Hmmmm, Inferno: Skyscraper Escape? Sounds very much like a product of The Asylum, timed to cash in on That other big-budget Skyscraper movie releasing in July. It’s not though.
